Comes highly recommended
This is a much better lens than the reviews let on.This compact 24mm full frame lens is made very well, it has some great features that make this a great option for multiple things. For photography:It's a nice wide fast prime, offering good image quality that is nice and sharp.F1.8 for a good shallow depth of field.Quick snappy autofocus.Great for street photography and astrophotography and with its added benefit that the programmable button that is set to infinity for those stary shots (can be adjusted to personal focus length)The focus switch on the side offers 2 options, set to 1 will be the focus, set to 2 and it can adjust your aperture silently and the ring itself is nice and smooth. For video:This is a great video lens (my use for it) offering quiet autofocusSwitch in position 2 giving silent and smooth aperture controlnice and wide for talking head/YouTube videos and great for work on a gimble, It is lightweight and gets a good field of view for getting plenty of the scene. This is a versatile lens and even offers some weather sealing which many more expensive lnses do not.Its only drawback is its lack of OIS but at this price, you can't have it all.Its a lens I am happy to own and will be looking at other Samyang lenses in the future.

awesome lens for the money
for the money this is an awesome lens for Sony FE mount - sharp and AF Is fast super light and small - just love this lens yes I am sure the GMaster Sony might be a fraction sharper and a bit better built - but for the money the Samyang 24 f1.8 is just fantastic - bokeh is also very niceI also have the 35mm F1.8 also fantastic - also have the 45mm 1.8 which is nice and also the 75mm F1.8. all super light and small and short - the 24 and 35 are the best of the bunch -

Great lenses, have their own character
I’ve started replacing a lot of my lenses with Samyang lenses. They perform stunningly and they have this stunning red flare in direct sunlight. Great for sunset shots at weddings. Huge red ring flare, love them!

Excellent lens better than expected
Wasn't sure what to make of this as in terms of lens budget it probably sits at the mid to low point. However it's a cracking lens image quality in both the centre and corners when stopped down is great on my a7rii. Very light and small. Probably not lens for artic trips or heavy rain as I'm not sure about the weather sealing but overall I'm really pleased with this.

Great but..
The lens is really sharp for the price. The autofocus is good as well. The only issue I have is the chromatic aberration. As you can see, the purple is really present (this is without any correction). I was able to remove it on Lightroom but I'm a bit disappointed about that.

Does the job but doesn't instil confidence
I bought this lens to pair with my 85mm on two camera bodies for use at weddings, going for a cheaper model to see if the focal length works for me, rather than investing in the excellent G Master option immediately. The sharpness of images produced is good. It does drop off at the edges but it's not too bad.The autofocus is decent (a7riii and a7rii).The speed is perfectly usable, and both standard and eye focus are accurate during stills autofocusing. My Sony 85mm 1.8 is faster and more confident, and I think my Tamron 28-75mm G1 is about the same. However, it makes clunking noises reasonably loudly during stills autofocusing (in video it's slowed down so it's essentially silent) which doesn't instil confidence in the quality. It also has trouble focusing on horizontal lines; verticals work better. This is not completely the lens' fault but none of my other lenses show the issue as badly. For video work, focus breathing (where the image zooms in or out during focus) is minimal, which is good. The build quality seems good, within reason. It's plastic, but it's good quality plastic.I don't like the red ring; it doesn't match the orange ring of the a7 line of cameras, but it's easy to cover with a strip of electrical tape. Most worryingly, connecting it to the cameras' lens mounts feels clunky; it's not a perfect connection like every other lens I've tried. Once connected it's fine, it's only during connection. I don't think it's a problem but again, it doesn't instil confidence. The new button (compared to some older Samyang lenses) is great. The marketing hype tells about its uses for astrophotography and finding infinity focus, but it can also be customised in the camera settings. In a fast-paced environment I use it to punch in to APS-C mode when required to save time cropping later.I don't use the switch to convert the focus ring to an aperture ring. However because I mostly use autofocus the ring is useless and I have to use a switch, button or setting on the camera to switch to manual focus and use the ring. Using Samyang's lens dock I could change the switch to be a physical AF/MF control, but that costs extra. I wish they had just included a dedicated AF/MF switch instead. The Samyang 24mm f/1.8 is a lens which until recently had little competition - I was waiting for a lens of this aperture and focal length combination to show up, and then several did! It's competing with the Sigma 24mm f2 and the Viltrox 24mm f1.8, essentially. I can't compare it with them from real world experience but I went for the Samyang because of the price and supposed sharpness advantage over the sigma, and supposed autofocus performance advantage over the Viltrox.Overall it is recommended.

LEGGERO E COMPATTO
