Shouldn't this product be refrigerated? Normally I purchase at Whole Foods in a refrigerated section... but Amazon is 30% cheaper.

I used to work in the supplement section at Whole Foods and this is the brand I use personally. They have two versions, one that is shelf stable and one that is kept refrigerated. I can promise you the refrigerated version came in on a refrigerated truck and was not compromised before going to the  cooler shelf (at all the WF I worked at). So in short, there are two versions and you do lose quality/quantity if the cold version is out of the fridge for any extended time.

Does this brand require refrigeration? I'm looking for one to travel with.

I have used this product for at least 10 years (alternating with the 150 billion when I am not well). In my opinion since they changed it to the smaller capsule, the product does not work as well. for my digestive system. Just cancelled subscribe and save from Amazon because it it not kept cool. I question the change from glass to plastic containers.. how great for the environment! Am looking for a better choice.

This is the answer from Brenda Watson, founder of Renew Life, that was posted on her website. "While our warehouse is temperature controlled, we do not ship under refrigeration. We have found that ice packs and other methods to keep the probiotics cool can melt and actually raise the temperature in the package compromising product quality. To allow for transportation of the product and to ensure the highest potency of probiotic cultures, Renew Life includes more probiotic cultures at the time of manufacture than we claim on the label. Additionally, the original sealed packaging protects the probiotics during travel.For best results, we suggest refrigerating our probiotics after opening. Storing our probiotics at or below 73 degrees allows us to guarantee label claim potency until the time of expiration."
