Lovely sound and easy to play
I was a serious player as an adolescent, in lessons and my city's youth symphony and school orchestra and chamber music and ALL of that, but suffered burnout and got a degree in voice instead. My viola got dusty. Post college, I have brought back my neglected viola and started playing regularly at the church I sing at, so I decided my poor strings needed to be replaced.Since the stakes are low, I thought I might try a different set of strings. I acknowledge that, at a point, literally any strings would sound better than my old ones did. But even with that in mind, these are so especially nice to play! I used to use Thomastik Dominants at the recommendation of my teacher. I honestly wasn't sure if I would notice a big difference in brands, but I sure did.I have little fingers and, now, a chronic illness with lots of pain so playing can be taxing. I also have always felt my vibrato wasn't very good, and my C string sounded muddy and dark. When I opened up this C, it almost seemed too skinny to be C, compared to the Dominant! But it's still beautiful. These are SO easy to play with a lighter hand and my vibrato is much smoother and more resonant. Perfect for meditative church music. My sound is overall cleaner, and I don't have to work quite so hard for it, so I just want to play all the time. Plus, they're cheaper than the Dominants! Thanks for making me want to play my instrument!

Good dealer
The strings are fine - no problems - I was buying light strings for my child on from an ad very similar to this one. The main thing I would report on is the vendor - they are a good outfit. I purchased strings from "The Woodwind & Brasswind." Shipment was prompt and when I presented a question/concern via their online site, they responded to each inquiry promptly and with professionalism. Be aware that despite the way this title is worded, it is possible this ad might have been intended for only 1 string and not a set. I was impressed with The Woodwind & Brasswind's willingness to respond - hence, I would recommend purchasing music products from this vendor. As for more info on the product itself, I purchased the light strings so they would have a little less sound and easier playing for a child. I promptly put the string on the instrument and played on it - no problems. Nice soft sound I was looking for.Jared Powell

Great tone and playability
I ordered this string set for my 16.5 inch viola and they sound great. The ONE issue I have is this- I put the strings on my viola and tuned them up to let them stretch, and let them stay that way for the weekend. When I went to tune them up again today, the A string broke right at the ball end. I didn't overtune or stress out the string inordinately, so, buyer beware-this might happen to yours. I managed to improvise a fix that allowed me to use the A string, but boy talk about disappointing. Thus only 4 stars. Again though, great tone.

Good strings
I put these on a 16.5" student viola that shipped with Prelude strings. The Preludes had some brash, metallic overtones that I really didn't like. The Zyex were a huge improvement. They're still plenty bright enough for my taste without the brashness. I considered Helicore since I use them on my violin, but I'm glad I chose Zyex.

Zyex C-String, Long, Heavy Tension; Most Impressive
While this occurred with various other changes I bought this independent string (should get one for G too) since my old C was all greyed and old-looking (sounded fine but all my strings are overdue for a replacement.) Medium tension would be the most accurate fit but wanted to try out the heavy tension and it's certainly impressive. Nice and rich with great volume. I'd like to take a listen to it while using a thicker bridge, not that mine is particularly thin (it's "normal") but the extra warmth could provide some neat tonal qualities.

D'Addario Zyex Viola String Set.
Viola strings are expensive, at least the ones I've enjoyed, so thought I would give these 'new' strings a test. I have an old viola and wanted synthetic type strings. Wow! These strings are fantastic. Full rich sounding all the way. The 'C' was a real surprise, what a deep round full rich sound all the way up. The price is right, try them, you too will love them.

Had just the sound I was looking for!
Bought these strings for a viola lent to me by a friend. The sound with the old strings was not too great, and I wanted something that would be warm, especially on the A string. I can't stand a honky A string! They sound great and play easily. Now I want to get a set for my violin, too.

Excellent for the money.
These are really great strings for the money, a full set of synthetic strings for this price is really a good deal. They have pretty good projection and bow really evenly across the strings. I feel like the A string, and especially the D string really choke up in sound in higher positions so I may be looking to replace both of those with warchals. The bottom two strings have a really strong sound and have a good balanced tones, these two I think I will continue to use for a while.
