I keep more than a dozen extra in my rope access rescue kit. They are all around Great!

It's a steel biner. You either need one or you don't. I got this for my treeclimbing lanyard for extra weight in throwing over branches. I use all Rock Exotica gear for my climbing carabiners. As opposed to most(all?) other carabiners, you pull the gate down to unlock it rather than push it up. I find it's easier for me perform one-handed. They also make a version with a push up gate(the Uplock), but that negates a big feature imo. You won't find better quality gear, so if a pull down gate interests you, this is the one to buy.

Tough, heavy built, rugged, sturdy! Those pretty well sum up this STEEL carabiner very well! Some prefer lightweight aluminum carabiners and Rock Exotica has those too but for the money, safety and security; these are what I'd personally recommend when your life is on the line, LITERALLY!
