Has any one used either the 4G or 4AA, does it have any violet or red tones?

4G is a Golden Brown. 4 AA is a Deep Ash Brown. Neither contains violet or red tones.

is the violet brown more reddish or more actual purple?

I didn't use the violet brown. But I was very disappointed with this product. Even after following the directions, when I washed my hair, all the color washed out.

About how many tubes would I need for shoulder length hair? Would a tube be enough or do I need more?

1 tube would be enough, Our tubes are 3.5 oz...larger than most.

I have brassy yellow and pink hair, need to tone & lift the blonde but I don’t want platinum. Can’t use any ash I pull green, advice?

So in the first place no one's hair pulls green EVER. You're getting green because of simple Color Theory...you're putting blue based toners onto hair which is too yellow, and Yellow + Blue = Green. Anyone else in the world who put blue on top of yellow would get the same green result. It's not to do with hair. It's just the way color works. So the solution is to lift first. Use our Bond Protect Bleach, it lifts very well. Get your hair up to a consistent level 10 (this means very very pale with minimal yellow, take a look at some of our videos to see hairdressers achieve this). Then tone with a blue based or violet based toner (we have both). That would be the way a hairdresser would do it & that is what we would recommend also.
