Super Useful, Informative Product
I bought these smart plugs to make my office run more efficiently. Using these smart plugs, I can schedule my office equipment to turn on and turn off at certain times of the day so that during the closed hours, I am saving energy. For that purpose, these smart plugs, work flawlessly. In addition to being able to schedule on and off timing, they also show the power usage going through them. It’s a little unclear in the app (there are no units shown), but I believe that the numbers presented are in kilowatts. So, the plugs, via the app, show how many kilowatts the plug is being presented and it tracks that power Usage both real time as well as on a daily and monthly basis. I wanted to be able to see how much power my office equipment was using, and these smart switches provided the exact amount of detail that I needed. Finally, and it’s a small thing, but these smart switches fit height wise, two into a standard AC outlet. This allows me to put two of them into a single outlet. Some other smart switches that I have tried take up more space on the outlet preventing use of the second outlet thus wasting outlet space. So I was very happy that I was able to put two of these into a single outlet. Overall, I’m very happy with these smart plugs and would recommend them to anyone that was interested in having a smart plug that was both schedulable as well as provided real time in historical power usage information. Great unit for ESPHome
Love these! Easy to use and Compatible with Flashing over to ESPHome for Home assistant. I do wish it was a bit easier but if you do a lot of these can just make a jig to program. Power monitoring seems to be accurate checking with a Kilowatt The inside traces seem to be thick enough to handle the amperage it is rated at. Function great for my needs to monitor energy of devices and trigger automation and also be able to toggle on and off the device. Use with my Washer to tell when it is done since it can do 15 amps.

works great, especially after flashing tasmota open source firmware.
Easy to flash with tasmota firmware. Can easily sense power usage and set on/off timers with new firmware. I like the button on the end so it's easy to press while the plug comes out the front. great for a diy/maker person who likes to unlock the capability of these devices.

Works well with ESPHome/Home Assistant home automation systems
Bought these to integrate into a Home Assistant home automation system. They are ESP-32 based and if you take them apart you can re-flash them with software from esphome.io to do the integration without needing the Sonoff app [unfortunately the re-flash process itself isn't well documented but I did eventually get them done]. The only issue I had with them (hence 4 stars) is that their WiFi connectivity is really touchy and required some adjusting of my router parameters before they'd connect reliably (2Ghz only but they don't push a lot of data). With Home Assistant you can turn them on and off remotely and also monitor power usage and the like. AND they are pretty cheap. :-)

Integrates seamlessly with Home Assistant. No hub needed.
This device integrates seamlessly with Home Assistant, making setup incredibly straightforward. One of the best features is that it requires no additional hub – it connects directly to your network, eliminating unnecessary complexity and extra hardware costs. This is exactly what I needed for my smart home setup. The direct integration means fewer points of failure, reduced latency, and a cleaner overall system. Configuration was simple, and the device was recognized immediately by Home Assistant without any complicated workarounds or custom integrations. If you're running Home Assistant and looking for a hub-free solution that just works, this is an excellent choice. It delivers reliable performance without the bloat of proprietary ecosystems or bridge devices.

Great for Tasmota
I purchased a dozen of these plugs from Sept to Oct 2025. They were all easy to flash with Tasmota, using a couple of grabber test probes and a USB to TTL adapter. The only gotcha is that the screws on these are VERY easy to strip out. The trick to that is to get a high quality, narrow PH1 hex bit and put that in a drill. Then you can apply tons of pressure to really seat the bit in the screw head while you ease onto the drill's trigger to break it loose. Doing it by hand, I was stripping 1 in 3, but the drill made the rest of them easy. After installing Tasmota, you can either use them via their own web interface, or add them to Home Assistant.

Reliable plugs on Wifi
I added these four to a set of 16 S32 because I wanted the option to flash them with Tasmota SW instead. They integrate as easy in Homeassistant as the other plugs and work reliably so far.

The SONOFF S31 is great after you flash it with tasmota
Pros: Flashable Affordable Easy to use Compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and IFTTT Power monitoring feature Cons: Too big it cover 2 gauge outlets Not as fast as some other smart plugs Does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi To flash a Sonoff S31 with Tasmota, you will need the following: A Sonoff S31 smart plug A USB to TTL adapter A micro USB cable A computer with a terminal emulator Once you have gathered your materials, follow these steps: Disconnect the Sonoff S31 from power. Open the Sonoff S31 and expose the PCB. Locate the GPIO0 button and the TX and RX pins. Connect the TX pin of the USB to TTL adapter to the RX pin of the Sonoff S31. Connect the RX pin of the USB to TTL adapter to the TX pin of the Sonoff S31. Connect the ground pin of the USB to TTL adapter to the ground pin of the Sonoff S31. Connect the 3.3V pin of the USB to TTL adapter to the 3.3V pin of the Sonoff S31. Connect the USB to TTL adapter to your computer. Open a terminal emulator and set the baud rate to 115200. Enter the following command to enter bootloader mode: Press the GPIO0 button and hold it down. While holding down the GPIO0 button, plug the Sonoff S31 into a power outlet. Release the GPIO0 button after a few seconds. The Sonoff S31 should now be in bootloader mode. Use the terminal emulator to upload the Tasmota firmware to the Sonoff S31. Once the Tasmota firmware has been uploaded, the Sonoff S31 will reboot. The Sonoff S31 will now be running Tasmota.

Do yourself a favor and buy these ones
I didn't even test them with the app, I directly flashed them with Esphome. Disassembly was a breeze, flashing them was a bit tricky but that's what you get when you do it without an iron solder. Now that they're flashed, I run a custom template to report the current and wattage to Home assistant. The build quality is solid and they have so far responded really well. This is really the best of both world, a great product flashed with a custom firmware I have 100% control over.

Incredible
Why can't all the makers of remote plugs include all these features? I was going to add more Globe branded wifi plugs to my house when I discovered what I feel is dangerous fact with the Globe brand, they get very hot with only a moderate load of 11A. That is NOT suitable for 1500w space heaters, 12K BTU AC units, hotplates, iron, even some hair driers. Because the Sonoff brand measures current and that means WATTS they can provide you with peace of mind knowing you are not overloading an outlet and endangering your family. PLUS, I have measured all external areas of the Sonoff and there are no dangerous hotspots. I have a fair investment for other branded wifi plugs but am not hesitating with replacing them with the SONOFF brand.
