Strong flavor, good price, highly recommended
Yes, it is strong and a bit darker than the open leaf green tea, that is expected. Unlike some other reviews, my packages were intact and the tea inside was almost all rolled leaves I. The form of pellets, not a powder. Since I brew it with a custom mix of herbs, stronger and. Vegetal flavor is better for us. It ca. also steep longer than the open leaf. Nice aroma! I have used this brand for more than a decade, but first time buying it online where it is cheaper than store. A little goes a long way. You should try it if you haven’t, but be open minded the first time.

Bitter
Good tea and very concentrated. Bitter. It requires a lot of sugar.

I've been drinking this tea for years. Always happy with it!
I've been getting this gunpowder green tea for years now. Never disappointed. I only need a heaping teaspoonful for a whole pot of tea. I steep it the first time for 3 minutes, set the tea ball aside. If I want to make another pot the same day I reuse the same tea and steep for 5 minutes the second time. I keep the teapot on the plate warmer burner on my cooktop and I have hot tea ready and waiting all day long. Such an economical drink. It never gets a tanniny taste like black tea will get.

Poor taste in latest shipment
This used to be a good tea, but the latest box I got in May 2026 taste is quite poor. I had about 20 cups of it so far (aka used < 1% of the box), and will probably throw the rest away.

Don't know how it compares ... but ...
My taste buds are not particularly reliable or choosy so I am far from qualified to affirm or not the quality of the product. Being straightforward, it proports to be genuine green tea , the reviews seemed fine, the price per unit was more attractive than others. I put the granules in large flow through bags and make 2+ gallons of tea at a time, bottle and refrigerrate for enjoying a level if iced tea throughout the week. Supposedly there are a degree of health benefits associated with greaen tea and not knowing anything of potentially better quality or taste, I am content with the results. As long as the price point remains as attractive, I will continlue to purchase this product
