It lathers up a little, but honestly you don't need it to. Soap is soap, and this one is pretty good. Just wet your hands, rub some soap on them, spread the soap as you wash your hands, and you'll be able to tell that you've washed the soap off. No extra lather needed.

Anyone know what the white pspery bits in the soap It does not dissolve?

First make sure you were sold genuine Aleppo Soap. The label on your soap must indicate the place of manufacture (Syria or Aleppo). No more than 4 ingredients: olive oil, bay leaf oil, soda, water. Batch number to ensure the traceability of your soap. Reach out to the seller and if needed Amazon to be sure your weren't tricked into buying a low grade copy made with who's knows what. We've never found any type of debris in the soap we've purchased over the years.

How long does one bar of soap last?

If I remember correctly, two of us using it was probably two months. It lathers nicely and I felt clean. And it didn't make my skin dry.
