Princess, Priestess, Poet: The Sumerian Temple Hymns of Enheduanna (Classics and the Ancient World)

Comprehensive but dull
The authors have done an excellent job in assembling a comprehensive catalogue of temples and their inscriptions, unfortunately the surviving texts from this period lack the narrative detail and colour of the later Babylonian mythology and weren't the material I'd hoped for.

Worth the buy!
One of the best books I've ever read, definitely worth the little extra money. A steady paced discourse going over every hymn in amazing detail bringing to light more information on the hymn's subjects, every page is interesting and Enheduanna herself is also incredibly interesting.Probably one of the best ways to learn about Mesoptamian mythology, going over cities and their patron God's, going over history of all these and learning many more myths around these God's.I only wish other mythological books could be written in this style, going over cities, myths, and history one by one excellently well written. And of course the Hymns themselves are a credit to the excellence of Sumrian culture. And the books feels nice to read from which I was unsure of at first, but I love it.
