We had a ton of issues with our infant having stomach issues - it didn't really seem like just reflux as he wasn't spitting up very frequently. But after eating he would often cry and arch his back a lot while stiffening his legs. It seemed a lot like he was in pain, and it often came in waves - he would settle down for a couple minutes before it would start back up again. We would try to keep him upright after feeding, and that seemed to help some, but it definitely didn't 100% prevent issues, and dealing with a baby in pain and having to keep him upright for an hour to an hour and a half after every feeding was a nightmare (especially since he was eating every three hours.) At his 1 month appointment, we discussed this with his doctor and she recommended we try some probiotics. She gave us a sample she had at the office (Gerber). Since I had also been told by a doctor to take probiotics for my stomach issues previously, I was optimistic. The Gerber drops seemed to create a bit of an improvement - but I noticed they didn't include the strain I had specifically been told to take for my stomach (saccharomyces boulardii). So I did a little research and determined that the medical studies I could find showed that it was safe for children. Then I found this Dr. Formulas option that included that specific strain as well as many others. We made the switch within a couple days of starting the Gerber drops. Day one with the Dr. Formula probiotics, he seemed much better. Days 2-4, he seemed a little worse, and we weren't sure if he just wasn't doing well with them or if maybe it was some transitional period due to switching the probiotics back and forth. We almost stopped using them. I'm very glad we stuck with it because day 5 he started being much better again. He's had a couple instances where it seems like his tummy hurts a bit since we started (about a month ago) but not many at all. We're now able to not hold him upright after feeding (if needed) without fear of him having an episode (which is great since when he poops, it's often immediately after eating). I'm not 100% sure it was these probiotics or if if was just that he reached an age where his stomach and digestive tracts started maturing and doing better. If that's the case, the timing matched up pretty well. Either way, we're going to continue giving him these probiotics because he's definitely doing better now than he was at first.

Overall, we are pleased with this probiotic. It was one of the only baby probiotics I could find with the ingredients my doctor recommended. My son has been taking them for a month and we have seen improvements with his gut. Our only complaint is it has been hard for us to find something to mix it in with that he will definitely consume all of. He does not take a bottle and it is a "large" amount of powder to mix in with a puree (as he typically eats table food and not purees). This is a very specific complaint though, so over all I would recommend this probiotic to others.

This is the third time I've bought these probiotics for my children. I like them because they're capsules, and I can open them and mix them with anything. They've helped reduce the itching in my son with eczema.

Our pediatrician recommended we include a probiotic supplement in our newborn's daily diet when we mentioned our child had painful bowel movements. She specifically mentioned finding one with Saccharomyces boulardii, as it was used for infants in Kaiser's NICU. We started incorporating the powder in our baby's bottle daily and saw an immediate and dramatic improvement. To be honest, there were so many other things we were doing as well that it was hard to say what caused the improvement. ie. gripe water, mylicon, mom's diet... until we finished our first bottle of DrFormula's Nexabiotic Probiotic Powder. Within a few days, our child for the first time, was missing his daily giant bowl movement and began to suffer from abdominal discomfort once again. I reordered another bottle and within days we were back on a more regular schedule without constipation or missing any daily large bowl movement. We did have some issues with our baby taking an entire capsule with less than 2 ounces of milk. I can't speak to whether it was the texture or flavor that my baby noticed, but our child definitely noticed and wouldn't drink the milk. We learned to either split up the powder over multiple feedings or make sure there was at least 4 ounces of milk in the bottle. We are now true believers in the effectiveness of this product for our child.

We recently started our 2nd bottle and have seen a significant improvement in my 8 month old daughter's moderate eczema since starting these. I had read a meta-analysis on probiotics for eczema that specifically called out a couple of the strains I could only find together (and for kids/babies) in this probiotic. About two weeks after starting this I stopped having to use hydrocortisone every few days (and now we haven't used since that time). Some of her smaller spots disappeared and all of the others have faded to be skin color and gotten significantly smaller. Really impressed by how effective this product has been. She takes it in 1oz. breastmilk, along with her vitamin D with no issues. For reference, all of this has happened during the coldest, most dry part of winter and we changed nothing else about her skin routine during that time (same Eucerin cream nightly etc.).
