Solid wine key for great price, highly recommended by industry professionals
If you've ever worked in the hospitality industry, as a bartender, sommelier, server, bar back, etc, you've probably carried a wine key like this one. You can buy one that's significantly more expensive, but this wine key is not noticeably inferior to the more expensive version, and there's certainly not enough of a difference to justify the price. If you need to uncork bottles of wine, you should buy this product. Home wine drinkers who don't work in the hospitality industry are probably more comfortable with a winged corkscrew, but once you learn how to use a double hinged wine key, you will realize that they're much faster, easier to use, and take up a lot less space in your drawer. They're also convenient to travel with. This particular wine key is double hinged, which is much better than a single hinged wine key, as you can use leverage to pull out the entire cork without having to use force to pull against the bottle. Once you've removed the foil cap, simply insert the worm (the corkscrew part) into the middle of the cork, and twist the wine key clockwise and/or twist the bottle counterclockwise until the worm is all the way inside the cork. Then, using the handle as leverage, put the first hinge on the lip of the bottle and pull up on the handle, pushing the hinge down against the bottle. After the cork comes most of the way up, switch to the second hinge, putting it on the lip of the bottle and lifting up on the handle again, until the cork is totally removed. This wine key is solidly built. It feels sturdy and ergonomically fits to my hand. The beer bottle opener works well and quickly with very little effort. The worm goes into synthetic corks extremely easily with no friction at all, and goes into real corks with very little friction. The foil cutter is serrated and not too dull, but if you need to open wine bottles quickly, you should buy a standalone foil cutter anyway. I strongly recommend this one from Vinara: http://www.amazon.com/review/R36DJ213VILHE4 The hinges are a little stiff to bend back and forth at first, but after breaking it in, this is no longer a problem. And you really can't beat the price. I bought a few extras and keep them in my bag at work, so if a server or fellow bartender forgot to bring a wine key, I don't have to lend them the one I'm using and then go find them to get it back. In conclusion, if you want a decent double hinged wine key for a great price, buy this one. You won't regret it. If this review helped you, please click Yes below =)

A Solid Wine and Beer Bottle Opener
I really like this wine bottle opener! It works very nicely opening even those hard to remove corks with ease. It comes with a foil cutter, a two stage/two step double hinged puller and is made to last.

Corkscrew Competition: Truetap Metal vs Natural Wood and Stainless Steel
A few months ago I looked at this corkscrew and another made by the same company, Waiters Corkscrew by True Fabrications - Natural Wood and Stainless Steel All-in-one Corkscrew, Bottle Opener and Foil Cutter The red metal one looked nice and wasn't very expensive. The Natural Wood one looked more refined. It cost $3 more but it was still not too expensive. They both got good reviews. I couldn't make up my mind, so I got them both. The Natural Wood one looks even more elegant than it does in the picture on the website, and they both turned out to be excellent quality corkscrews. After using them both for the last 4 months, I'm giving a slight edge to the Truetap Metal corkscrew for two reasons. The most important one is the design of the first step in the dual-action mechanism that they both have. This short step is what you first put on the lip of the wine bottle to get maximum leverage before moving to the longer step to finish extracting the cork. In the Truetap Metal corkscrew the edges of the first step are folded over to make two little "feet". In the Natural Wood corkscrew, the thin metal edge is what contacts the bottle lip. (See Photo) This first step applies the most force to the lip of the bottle. The "feet" on the Truetap Metal distribute this force much better than the simple metal edge of the Natural Wood corkscrew. Although it happens very rarely, I have had the metal edge type corkscrew actually break out some small pieces of glass when a lot of force is applied to pull a particularly stubborn cork. The second is that the non-stick coated screw on the Truetap Metal is easier to get into the cork and out again than is the grooved bare metal screw on the Natural Wood corkscrew. The foil cutters are also slightly different. The Truetap Metal is shorter with coarser serrations, but it doesn't make much difference in performance. In any case, I seldom use them, preferring the 4-wheel type cutters such as True Decor™ 4 Wheel wine Bottle Foil Cutter Remover with Sharp Blades quickly and effortlessly removes foil

Shocking, poor quality item - not at all like the one in the photos
I selected this item because from the photos, it looked like a decent quality, branded item made out of well-formed steel of a decent thickness. What I received was rubbish made out of the thinnest steel sheet possible. It wasn't expensive, but I feel misled and ripped off. I'm filing a claim for a refund.
