I love thin leather bar tape on vintage bikes and Selle Italia delivers perfection for this retro grouch. I wish they offered it in a dark wine color but the red will do for now. Sun,sweat and dirt will age it soon enough. The brown is fantastic looking and has a softer texture similar to suede while the red is smooth with a glossy sheen. Both wrap easily and offer a great feel to the handlebars. Ciao Baby!

My previous tape has all been with a stick on backing and this tape had a glue that was well past useful, so I searched around and found a few articles on non adhesive bar tape. Useful instructions: Start at the end and wrap it super tight, leaving about half the tape off the end (for the plug) and go around about 3 times. Use a little masking tape to hold it in place, and put in the end plug. That will secure the bottom well enough. After that, it's just about using nice, even tension and keeping things nice and snug. It's easier than you think. Keep that masking tape around to hold things in place when you need to pause to figure things out (like around the hoods) The upside is that mistakes are easy to correct. Nothing sticky to worry about. You should get more stretch out of the tape, too, which makes things smoother in the end. This tape has adhesive but I pulled it all off as it's better and tighter in the end. If you're double wrapping, it is long enough for this and could need a small amount cut off the end. I haven't yet used the bike but the colour may come off and I'm not looking forward to this, as it may occur.

It is good leather -- durable, soft, and wraps very well. I like it. But my hands get black every time I ride my bike and it is hard to wash off. When wet or recently wet, the black is 10x worse.
