This is an excellent book for all therapists who treat patients in longer term psychotherapy. It advises how to assess in the initial evaluation the potential ability of the patient/client to eventually terminate the treatment. It also discusses the significance of the termination (goodbye) phase of the treatment and how to negotiate it successfully. This phase of treatment typically receives less attention, which this book repairs. Also, this is a relatively small book and written by good writers/therapists, so it is very approachable and easily read.

Two Stars
Kind of a simplistic book for a lot of money . I don't think it is worth the price

Alternative Text
The text is a very thorough study of termination and termination issues in Psychotherapy. It is certainly worth reading and will be used at least in part in our Psychotherapy courses within the Department of Psychiatry
