I use this to connect my TV in my MakerSpace, to one of those large mobile monster speaker systems.At first I got the infamous buzzing sound, but I had to switch my LGT over to Smart ox out, and everything was crystal clear. I can hear the stereo from YouTube on the TV, to about 400 ft away, and it's clear as day.I was surprised it didn't come with a 3.5 mm cable, but we all should have, at this day and age, a cable that interconnects with each other.All in all the price is not bad at all, the quality is definitely on point, and if I need to do it again elsewhere on our property, I would definitely buy another one.

*NOTE* Make sure to follow instructions about the proper settings on your Smart TV.I used this converter to connect the optical output of our Smart TV to the 3.5mm AUX jack on our old Cambridge Soundworks table top radio. The radio is over well 20 years old but it's sound is amazing.The instructions are very clear about setting the TV's output to 'optical' and 'PCM', and that's it. Took me maybe 10 minutes to unpack, connect, and change settings.So now the sound quality of our TV is just as incredible as every other quality source played through the radio. It's like the Bose wave except this one has it's own built-in sub woofer. I have an old analog speaker mounted to my bed headboard with a wire that runs along the wall back to the TV. When I upgraded the TV and didn't have a headphone jack to plug it into anymore, this little puppy saved the day. It can power from one of the USB ports on the TV itself, and convert the optical audio to the headphone port on this.I did notice that on my TV, I had to put the audio settings to "TV speakers AND optical output". If I attempted to use "Optical output only" (just this device), I got horrible shrieking static.

Does what its supposed to do . Only cavet is that the audio volume is not adjustable which it isn't supposed to be, but would be a much better product if it had that feature.

Neither end of the optical cable would fit in any device I owned without falling out. I only ordered it because my TV only has optical out and Amazon recommended it, and it had all the hardware I needed. If I wanted to buy extra pieces I would have bought something better. I didn't get to test it until after the return period because of a family member being diagnosed with cancer. I have IT degrees and I still hate this thing because of quality. Why did it not connect to the stuff it came with not even fit in the hardware it came with. When someone to hold the other end of the optical cable in the box when I held it in the TV it still was full of signal noise. None of the parts I got to test for the purpose I bout it was acceptable. Amazon recommended was unacceptable again. I guess the major take away is don't trust Amazon even when the tech specs say they will work. I would provide a picture if it wasn't just a picture of the ports on my TV without anything in them because the cable just fell out. Granted this is especially irritating for someone who can terminate their own fiber optic cables.

I have an older stereo system and a new Lg Tv and this devise solved my connection problem. It appears well built and easy to hook up. I also had to set my tv to "TV speakers AND optical output"and if I attempted to use "Optical output only" (just this device), I got horrible shrieking static as othersdid explained in their reviews, I don't understand why. Happy with the product.

Perfect! Finally cut the cable and saving tons

It worked to get audio from my LG OLED to my Onkyo receiver/amp via the optical audio out on the tv. However, there was a clear delay in the audio coming through the Onkyo receiver, and there was some distortion in the bass. Any audiophile (like me) would find this unacceptable, but you get what you pay for, I guess. I would not recommend except as a an emergency backup audio if the tv speakers go out.

Works great. Used it to connect an old TV to an HDMI SPLITTER switch connected to a DVD player and a CHROME STICK

Giving 1 star for misleading information given in the product description.The product info says the package comes with1x Digital to Analog Converter1xFiber Cable1x5V1A Power Adapter1x User ManualBut only received the 1x Digital to Analog Converter & a micro USB power cable.And, the product displayed in the image is completely different from what I received.Update:After connecting the DAC with a Toslink cable to the TV, and taking the output from the DAC and connecting it to my Sony speaker, it is not working at all. So, returning the product.

Not the best but really good. The price a bit too high though.
