Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea: Illustrated Abridged Children Classics English Novel With Review Questions (Hardback)

This was a good read. I enjoyed it to the fullest. It was like, I myself was on this underwater tour of the world on Captain Nemo's submarine. The book is worthy of being called a true classic. This can also be a perfect gift to a young kid who enjoys reading. A light and easy read with loads of information about the ocean and earth's geography. I kept consulting my map for various places that the author talks about and kept Googling for different fishes that the author mentioned. A perfect enjoyable read. Also, the quality of the pages and the binding of the book is good for the price point.

Ah! Jules Verne, the French H. G. Wells, was the foremost writer in the Sci-fi of early modern period. Three of his novels are the critically acclaimed - Around the World in 80 days, Journey to the Centre of the Earth and obviously Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea. This one follows the adventures of Nautilus, the Submarine and Captain Nemo. This particular book has the original Illustrations.

It is a Collin's edition what I've bought. Binding and pages are preddy good where as the fonts are small. Apart from that, it's a Jules Verne classic. A fiction can never be written well. 1. So much vivid and colorful, one can visualize the submarine world clearly. 2. The story telling is very dynamic, never give a chance to be bored. 3. Language is lucid apart from scientific nomenclatures. 4. Character plotting is perfect. 5. The ending of each chapter will drag to start the next one. 6. The ending itself is very grasping. Can't complain to be better. Very much recommended to readers of all genres. Myself will return to Verne's magic real soon.

I received this book in best possible condition. Binding and print quality is good for the price. The book is quite floppy. The cover is beautiful. Also replete with illustrations. Great purchase for a Jules Verne fan like me. Thanks

Condition of the paperback- 10/10 About the book- this is by Jules Verne, perfect to gift to those who are into classics and science fiction.

A travel diary (imaginary) informed in incredible detail (at times too much detail) by then known and understood science. But more than that a human story as we come to know more about Captain Nemo. An interesting insight into the engineering and science of the mid 1800s.

The book is nicely printed with what feels like good paper, and I like the texture of the cover. However, it is very large and very thin, which for me makes it somewhat uncomfortable to read sitting down in bed. That said, it would be fantastic if you were studying and taking notes on the book - the pages of a lot more extra room than normal, and the text is quite large, making it easier to find were you were when taking notes. Would recommend for people looking to take notes/study and to those who prefer larger font sizes.

I could not believe this version of 20,000 leagues under the sea. I learned so much from this book. All the other movies and stories that I heard about Captain Nemo were not even close to all the adventures that he goes on in this book. When I think about the movie by Walt Disney and then remember the book I realize that the movie was about 1/4 of the books adventures. All the adventures that I never heard about before like the hunt on the sea floor with the electric bullets, the Arabian tunnel under the sea, Santorin Island the Grecian Archipelago, the volcanoes of the Mediterranean, the Bay of Vigo with all the treasures, the size of the mountains in Atlantis, the adventure at the South Pole, the fight with all the sperm whales, his home Island and the production of salt to run his electric engines. There is so much more to this story than what I have heard before and in this edition the foot notes are excellent. I especially like the story of Arachne and how the name of Arachnid came to mean spiders. The footnotes explain all the literary references which are helpful to understanding the characters. There is so much information here about the sea world in an adventure that makes each moment exciting. Verne must have done so much research for this book to get all the scientific information correct. I never thought they knew all those things about the sea at that time. I was surprised by the character of Nemo who never seemed to go after anyone unless he was attacked. The whole idea that he chased after all forms of warships was something made up in Hollywood. Nemo never seemed to want to even deal with people. The story of Nemo's life at the end of the book explains many of his behaviors. The description of all the types of food that they were constantly eating was interesting you never knew what they were going to catch in the Nautilus' nets. I thought the adventure at the South Pole was the best of all with the predicament that they got into. It was the most adventurous and had the most suspense. I do not know why a book like this is not required reading for high school kids they would learn so much as well as adults. There is so much science geography, ichthyology, astronomy practical uses of physics etc. I would recommend this book to everyone who likes science and adventure.
