Limited Audience
There is a lot of background information about nutrition, ingredients, utensils, and so on in this book, so it's nice for a beginner. That said, I was not impressed by any of the recipes, but I am probably also not part of the intended audience. I think that limiting sugar is a very wise idea, but I'm not in favor of limiting fruits or adding in "healthy" ingredients for the sake of trying to pass a dessert off as being a health food. Therefore, I think if you're cooking style is like mine, trying to use healthy pantry staples, local ingredients, simple ingredients, lots of produce and whole grains, this is not a good book for you. But if you want something more trendy and modern and are willing to hunt down the ingredients you will not have on hand, as well as certain that your kids can adjust to major flavor and texture differences without issue, then this would be useful.

Beautiful, but Flawed, Cookbook
This is a beautiful cookbook that the world needs! So many kid-friendly cookbooks are full of junk, even the ones touted as "healthy." For that reason, I was thrilled to find this. Also, I've been a fan of Ms. Emmerich's for a couple years now and own two of her other books which I make regular use of.I appreciate the creative ways she has found to make healthy food fun. She has ideas for holidays that I've never thought of. The photography is mouth-watering. Her ice cream recipes are excellent (just like in her other cookbooks), and I must confess I nearly cried when I tasted my first bite of Blue Moon ice cream in years. Unfortunately, my kids themselves are less than thrilled with several of the recipes as written. The Mac n Cheese was really greasy and crunchy (will pre-cook the bacon and cauliflower next time), my kids have always disliked Fat Head dough (so were less than thrilled with the PopTarts, which were a beast to construct), and the chicken recipe we tried was just so-so. I can fix so-so recipes, as I'm a pretty good cook, but not everyone has the time and patience to have to fix recipes that should come out well as-written. Also, the prep times noted are all very optimistic and seem to assume your veggies are pre-chopped and all ingredients are conveniently at-hand.The most annoying problem I've encountered is the cinnamon roll recipe. The rolls are delicious with a lovely texture (the purple hue from the psyllium can be overlooked by my kids, but if yours are picky they might find it off-putting). The recipe say it makes 8 servings, however the instructions say to form 12 rolls. Does not compute. Also, the nutrition facts looked wildly off, so I computed them myself (again, I'm no novice), and came up with a calorie count less than half off what was notated. This is really frustrating for people who track calories or macros. We shouldn't have to fix so much to make effective use of a cookbook!

Grandmother friendly!
This cookbook is not only visually appealing, but the recipes are easy to prepare, they use readily available materials, and our grandkids absolutely love, picking out a recipe and making it with us. So terrific!

Fantastic
This cookbook is amazing! Our daughter is really sensitive to sugarâit impacts her attitude and ability to focus almost immediately. We also try hard to avoid processed food and industrial seed oils that are in just about everything these days. This can make food and eating feel not very fun at times. Maria fixes all that! She gives us wholesome, sugar-free, non-processed answers to common comfort foods and makes it fun, too. So so thankful to have this resource. For folks just starting out down this path, I know it might feel overwhelming to make more of the little things you're used to buying (like marshmallows and graham crackers), but I've found a lot of success fitting them in by making them on breaks (I work at home) or bulk making a few things on the weekend and freezing. It has been less challenging than I thought and I've actually enjoyed it! Gives me peace of mind knowing my little one is eating less toxic food, too.

A needs must in every home.
Since my husband became low carb/keto last February, we now want our children to follow the same lifestyle. Our modern day life is consumed with sugar and high carbs which are causing us now to see so many diseases steming from this way of life. We want better for our children and this book seriously delivers. From breakfasts to snacks and everything in-between, Maria has thought of it all. Many recipes use the same ingredients therefore cutting down on a crazy list of must haves. Rolls and wraps have the same ingredients for example. There are plenty desserts and breakfast options which are great and many for on the go. As a mum of five I need quick ideas and this offers plenty of those.Every household( children and adults!) Need to have this book in their lives. No brainer and thank you Maria for helping us help our children and those around us spread the low carb/sugar lifestyleđđ»đđ»

Fantastic Resource For Healthy Kiddos
We are not a Keto family. I do not keep my daughter on a Keto diet. However, this book is absolutely perfect for packing in Sugar-Free (healthy) foods! Plus, lots of protein and tons of yummy treats...basically, it's just food kids actually want to it. I love the information and insight Maria provides, though I will be modifying some of these recipes to better fit what we actually eat, the sugar-free aspect and the nutritional aspect of these recipes are priceless. I see myself coming to this book many times a week. For parents looking to healthify their kids' diet or help cut the sugar in their day, this is the book! All the recipes are easy and the best part is that the recipes are kid-friendly, so your kiddo can actually participate in the cooking. I knew I'd like this cookbook, but I didn't know I'd love it this much! Highly recommended!!
