Does it pop at random intervals?

No, it is a classic jack in the box. It pops up at the end of the song. Fun because your toddler can anticipate the pop based on the end of the song

Is it suitable to play with an infant?

Always. As long as playing is age, timing and place appropriate.

Types shown look different. One has dark green and light green body and one has two different shades of light green for the body. Are they the same?
