Whats with the four being iiii instead of iv?

Cassy has it. The IIII usage was a very early using during ancient times. That is, the Romans did it that way. Example: Gate 44 in the Roman Coliseum is still standing. It is labeled XLIIII. Others suggest that IV are the first two letters of the name of Jupiter (IVPPITER) and some were hesitant to use the first two letters of that name for religious reasons.

Can these watches be engraved

It wouldn't be easy to engrave as the surface is all etched with patterns. But I think it would be possible to put something on the back on top of the design.

How is the battery replaced?

The pocket watch cover can be opened from the back to replace the battery
