Greatest Hits Volume I & Volume II

Growing up in the late 70's and early 80's I was fan of Billy Joel, but didn't listen to him as much when all of the 'new music' acts (Talk Talk, Prefab Sprout, Tears for Fears...) shifted my interests. This 2CD set is an awesome re-introduction to his early years.I particularly like his more intimate works, such as "Just The Way You Are" (check out his live performance of this tune on the '"Old Grey Whistle Test" - Incredible).In that vein, I was surprised and bummed that "Honesty" was missing from this 2CD collection. I'd trade 'Uptown Girl' for 'Honesty' any day. :)

I got this soundtrack for my Mom for Christmas and she loves it!!!!! Especially since her favorite song is on this cd!!!! The soundtrack came on time and in perfect condition.

Maybe it's me, but a fair number of the songs I never heard of and did not fully appreciate.Still, it was Billy Joel, so I came away happy.

This music collection of Greatest Hits Volume I & Volume II by Billy Joel features a multiple number of fascinating vintage pop and classic rock songs that span multiple stages of his music career: Scenes from An Italian Restaurant, Just The Way You Are,Movin Out (Anthony’s song), Only The Good Die Young, She’s Always A Woman To Me, My Life, Big Shot, Uptown Girl, You May Be Right, Tell Her About It etc. I confess that hearing the songs Tell Her About It and My Life indirectly influenced me to eventually purchase this collection although You May Be Right is also an illicit music pleasure for me to listen to, however there are a multiple number of other songs on this collection that are also classic and exquisite songs. It is best if you are previously familiar with at least some of Billy Joel’s songs to more thoroughly enjoy the collection, however even if you are a novice to his music you might still enjoy this collection if you are receptive to listening to 70s and 80s style vintage pop and classic rock with some of the energy of love songs mixed in.
