Would this work to strop knives like other Chromium Oxide compounds?

It does for me. I use it on a homemade strop. Using stones I am able to get my knives somewhat sharp but not enough to push cut paper. After stropping with this green compound I was able to push cut paper receipts.

Will this compound get me a mirror shine on my rolex watch band?

The red dialux is a much better option and gives a really nice shine.

My first buy for strop compound. How hard is this stuff supposed to be? It doesn’t seem to adhere to leather that well and is really hard and dry.

I use it with a Dremel tool and buffing attachment, so the friction heats up the compound. You may want to try keeping it in your pocket for 10-15 minutes to soften it if you're just rubbing the bar directly on the strop (DO NOT MICROWAVE - the compound contains metal that could spark or ignite in the oven). That should make it a more crayon-like and improve adhesion to a leather strop.
