Can this go on an airplane? i know tsa has restrictions on certain types of batteries.

There should be no problem taking this on an airplane as long as you take the batteries out. Even with the batteries you should be ok since they fall under the TSA limit of 100 watt hours each and the regulations say two spare batteries, not exceeding 160 watt hours each, are permitted in carry-on bags.
