Very affordable yet tasteful shad
I really enjoy this lamp shade. Amazon recommended a color LED lightbulb with a remote to go along with it and I couldn't be happier with the results. My apartment doesn't have any overhead lighting installed, but it has a sloped ceiling that's nice and high. I had to buy a couple of small screw in hooks from the hardware store and it was off to the races. Amazon also recommended the corded socket. I ordered one, but the shade already came with one.The shade is a bit tricky to assemble because no matter how detailed the instructions are, you're creating a 3D object from a bunch of 2D pieces of plastic and one piece attached wrong will eventually lead you to start all over. But the videos help a lot and I was able to assemble it within 30 minutes. The shade comes with a corded socket and some nifty clasps that have holes for whatever you're using to hang the cable up to the ceiling and down a wall. The clasps are simple and keep the cord taught, which is way nicer than a bent up cord dangling from hook to hook. That was a very pleasant surprise to me.The shade hangs from the corded bulb on it's own because it's not terribly heavy. Whichever bulb you use is completely concealed by the shade, but light passes through it in a nice, even, diffused way. The shade also allows infra red light to pass through it, so an infra red remote for the cheaper color LED bulbs will work easily. I recommend the extra large shade if you intend to use it as a major light source. I'm sure the smaller ones make excellent accent lighting. This isn't for people who are expecting an exquisite chandelier hanging from their ceiling. The cord will be visible going in a straight line from the spot on the ceiling from which the shade hangs to a wall, and then to an outlet. It's visibly made of plastic. But with that said, it's very good for the type of shade it is. Way better than a paper chinese lantern.

Lovely Christmas decoration!
This is a great decoration for our home at the holidays. The upsides:1) It looks really fancy and is quite beautiful if you have a light in it that changes colors2) It's a unique decoration so more than likely, no one else in your neighborhood will have one!The downsides:1) For obvious reasons, it comes in puzzle pieces that you have to put together. Forget about using the instructions that come with the package, they are not helpful at all and were not written by a native English speaker so they are more than likely not going to suffice to help you put this together. BUT, if you search on YouTube, you will find a number of really GREAT videos that go step by step through the process of putting this together. Once I located the video, I spent about 30 minutes watching it and pausing it as I went step by step with the instructor and it went very smoothly.2) Storage - once it's been put together, you really don't want to take it apart, so you have to store it with a big garbage bag or something over it to protect it and then I would recommend hanging it where nothing squishes it or it will become deformed over time. (We had to throw away our old one which we stored in a bag on the floor of the attic with other stuff in it and it warped it to where it didn't hold it's shape).I do recommend it, and it's fun to put together once you get going. I had quite the sense of accomplishment once I was finished and it is so pretty!

This is by far one of my favorite buys from Amazon
This is by far one of my favorite buys from Amazon.I needed some temporary outdoor lighting that still looked classy and tasteful. That ruled out flood lights, halogens and work lights. I saw these and bought three.Assembly was a challenge but fun. Did a YouTube search and found a video. Completed the first one in about 15 or so minutes. (Describing the assembly on paper, coherently, is pretty darn near to impossible. Rely on YouTube...) At the end of the first one, I had gotten the hang of it and breezed through the other two within 8 minutes.I was nervous that the lighting would only be ambient instead of actual lighting so I used a 23 watt CFL bulb (100watt eqivalent) and the shade lit up beautifully. The word "wow" actually escaped my lips! It lit up the ENTIRE room. So I used two lamps with 23 watt bulbs and the third I decided to spice it up a bit by putting in a blue 13 watt CFL bulb. Also gorgeous. As I said, it was to be used for outdoors. The fixture that came with it was definitely not for outdoor use (it was to be raining the whole week we needed it) so i went to a mainstream home warehouse depot store and bought an outdoor screw in lamp for $2 a piece, spliced it to the existing plug that came with the puzzle lamp and electric-taped the heck out of the wiring and fixture to make it as weather-proof as possible without spending a small fortune on cheap outdoor lighting. So for a total of $22, i made a stunning outdoor presentation that wowed not only me and my guests but my husband as well. Gona try and upload a pic (keep in mind that the room in the pic has no roof, just walls, hence the need for weatherproofing the item. All in all and really awesome piece thats also super easy and compact to store for the next time it's needed.
