Does it fit the top of your head like a baseball cap or is there height to the crown of the hat?

Fits like a baseball hat on the crown of your head.

What is the size of the hat?

This hat runs SMALL! It is adjustable by velcro tab in the back but, my hair gets caught and tangled in the velco when tryinf to adjust it. Other than that, this is very lightweight and provides very good protection particularly on the sides, which you won't get from most baseball caps.

I need a hat for hiking. Will it hold up to a lot of sweat and sun?

No sweat band !!!! I am miserable in this hat. HOT AND WET (sweaty). Besides the brim in the front is only 4" not as advertised.

Is this one washable? Often card board is used which means it won't stand up to washing. What is the interior of the brim made of?

Yes it would fall apart in the wash. I think the brim is made of some plastic thin wires to hole the shape. The Velcro that holds hat together in the back is weak. Only really good thing about the hat is it’s light.
