Is there a refill for sticky end?

I have this and the end CAN be pulled out gently with pliers. It can be refilled with plumbers putty. I have done this many times. I did not like using Fun-Tak by Loctite because it gets hard. no the right thickness.

How do you take the plastic lid off, so that I can use the grippy part of the tool?

You pull it off. You don't twist it off or you will loosen the whole end. It's not as fragile as it seems.

Can I use this for diamond painting?

Yes. It's awesome for diamond painting. That is what I use it for. Also, look on You Tube for a video of how to refill this tool. Very handy.

could this tool pick up small screws that weigh 2.9 grams each from a bulk container? Do they sell larger pick up tools?

I use this tool for paper crafting to pick up small gems and other items, and I don't know if it would pick up the screws. I am not aware of a larger tool.
