I have been using this shampoo for many years because of a family member who has chemical sensitivity. My hair gets really clean and the shampoo smells like shampoo should (similar to bubble solution that kids play with). Unscented typically means that no fragrances were added to the shampoo to cover up the chemical smell. Your mileage may vary if you have chemical sensitivities or allergies, but it is worth the chance if you haven't tried it yet. If I would criticize the shampoo, I would ask the manufacturer to put it into a different bottle. The tiny hole leaks (sometimes) depending on the bottle you get. Some leak a lot, others don't leak at all. You also can't fill up the bottle too easily to get the last few drops out. I usually pour what I can into another bottle & cut the end off, but it would be convenient if I didn't need to do that.
