Great for making dashi!
Great for dashi, just soak overnight with dried shiitake mushrooms, strain and you have a base for ramen broth. Lasts for ages!

Good value, quality service
This review is just a warning to buyers not to make the same mistake I did. The seller has pointed out to me that what at first appears to be an old use-by date is in fact the production date. I noticed a couple of other buyers leaving negative feedback on this issue, so thought I should set the record straight by way of an apology. It makes great dashi and the used seaweed crisps up nicely for rice toppings.

Expensive but ok
Bit expensive for what it is but does the job I intended it for

bought and used for Ramen broth
Bought this Kombu to add to my Ramen broth pot. I have seen some reviews mention that its covered in white stuff...you know, i think that's how its meant to be...its just salt, just wipe it off with a clean damp cloth. Anyway, once added to my broth pot it simmered away and softened into beautiful flavoursome big bits of kelp. Ramen turned out amazing, would buy this product again

Useful savour addition to home fermented mushrooms, chillis
Supplied dried this needs to be soaked to be usable. I add mine in shreds to mushrooms and soy sauce, garlic, and chillis for short fermentation. It is absolutely brilliant, adding a rich depth of flavour, and a silky mouthfeel to the soy sauce. A single pack goes a long way.
