I bought this pen for my wife and she absolutely loves it. It feels very solid and well made, with a premium look and a nice weight in the hand that makes it feel more special than a basic pen. The bolt action design is smooth and satisfying to use, and the fine tip writes cleanly and consistently. It has a professional feel while still being practical for everyday use. A really nice pen if you want something durable, stylish, and gift-worthy.

I splurged on this pen when I started a new job this year, and while it’s definitely on the pricier side, the craftsmanship is excellent. It feels extremely well made and solid in hand, and the design is genuinely beautiful. The bolt-action mechanism is a really nice touch — smooth, satisfying, and a small detail that makes it stand out from standard pens. That said, it’s heavier than I expected. It has a substantial feel, which adds to the premium vibe, but it’s not something I’d want to use for long writing sessions. For signing documents or shorter note-taking sessions, though, it’s perfect. Overall, a high-quality pen that feels special — just know it’s more of a statement piece than an all-day writer.

Got this today, and immediately unboxed it. It's the green aluminum model. Black ink. I've already ordered some Bastion blue ink refills. Why? Because I intend on keeping this pen. I haven't bought a 'proper' pen for more than 50 years. Now, I've decided to treat myself- at almost 74 years old. Most of my life, it's been Bic and other pens, Pilot's and other brand dollar store grade stuff. The pen writes very nicely and it's substantial thickness fits my large hand perfectly. I really do not write for long periods, so it should be comfortable. The machining on this pen is just super high quality with tight tolerances. The bolt-action mechanism is super cool, although it may take some getting used to as it, and the strong shirt pocket clip do get noticed when it's in your hand. Overall, a really cool, beautiful looking pen for a reasonable price. Highly recommended!

Ordered the pen for my daughter. I own an identical one. Great pen. Very well balanced. Great construction. Very comfortable. It’s not as light as traditional ink pens, but we like the heavier feel. It writes really well, too.

I bought this pen for my wife because she wanted something nicer than the ordinary ball point pens she was using, but she also didn't want to go too high-end and spend more than $50 on a pen. In those parameters, this Bastion bolt-action pen is a great choice. The smooth aluminum body feels good in the hand to grip and write with, it has a welcome heft to it, and the teal color is aesthetically appealing. The spring is strong, which makes opening and closing the pen a satisfying fidget task. The rebranded Schmidt ink cartridge included with this pen writes well, too, though it struggles to get ink out if you're writing on too smooth or too hard of a surface. But if you are writing on a piece of paper with at least one other sheet of paper underneath, the cartridge writes like a dream. The only negative part of my experience with this pen has more to do with the manufacturer than the pen itself. I did contact Bastion to find out where these pens are manufactured, out of my own curiosity, and they were really squirrelly about answering that question for me. Because of how secretive they were, my assumption is that these pens are made in China. Other higher-end pen manufacturers that have their pens made in China, such as Everyman, Big Idea Design, and Studio Neat, were much more forthcoming about that information to me when I contacted them, though, so in the future I will be more inclined to purchase from them than Bastion.

Treated myself to the pure stainless pen/pencil set after getting a bit of a fever for pens again after buying a couple of F-701s recently. I initially saw this and ignored it thinking it was just another gimmicky Amazon pen, but my gosh I was fully reproved when I unboxed them. The boxes have the same Applesque design as OLights or TWSBI fountain pens, with a high definition image of the pen on a sleeve and a black magnetic closure box. Just as satisfying to unbox as a fountain pen. The pen and pencil themselves are gorgeous, gleaming, smooth, solid, heavy, pure stainless steel barrels; finely machined with careful attention to detail and seamlessly finished with mirror polish clips and bolt levers with strong, tactile operation. They are the writing utensil embodiment of steel with a satisfyingly notable heft. Normally with fountain pens you just let the natural weight of your hand press the nib. With ballpoints you have to press a bit, but the weight of these combined with the smooth, willing flow of the ink cartridge makes it very nice to write with. The pencil uses a German 0.7mm Schmidt Feinminen System insert that screws into the head, which just makes it that much more mechanically intriguing, like any high-end mechanical pencil. If you prefer 0.5mm, you can buy one quite cheap from Amazon. The girth and length of the standard pen is comparable to a typical sharpie or the length and weight of 2 1/2 aa batteries. I imagine the slim version may be more comparable to the F-701. Bastion has done an exceptional job on these writing tools and their craftsmen obviously take pride in their work.

I bought one of these (the titanium model that is not painted) a year ago, and I never even tried the stock ink, because I was about to carry a premium pen so I wanted premium ink. I don't remember which ink I tried, but it was good. But back to the pen. The finish is very nice. It has some weight to it, which takes a little getting used to, but is very comfortable once you have used it a while. So much that normal pens feel strange now. I work in chemical plants and refineries (high voltage electrical work) and so I need something that not only looks and feels premium, but can take abuse also. And my biggest concern was the clip being able to stand up to my abuse, taking it in and out of my shirt pocket all day long. And I have to say the clip is just as strong as the pen body, and after a year, I have never bent or broken it. After a year there are some light scratches all over the pen body, but it doesn't really affect the look of it unless you look really close. The fit of the tip really impressed me. The tip screws off/on to replace the ink cartridge (or to fidget), and when it's screwed on you really can't even see the line between the pen body and the tip. It is a very close machined fit, and I think that is one of the reason I say the quality is so good. The bolt action is very fun to fidget with, and has plenty of spring tension without being difficult to actuate. I actually just lost my pen. I left it at a restaurant Sunday. And today (2 days later) I just ordered another one, exactly like it. I'm sure whoever found it will enjoy it as much as I did. Not only would I buy it again, I just did! Anytime I have ever let anyone use it, they always say how nice it is. Get off the fence and pick this up! It is more than worth the money! Also get a good refill. I ordered the fine tip Parker Space refill this time.
