Shredders Away - Good Job Too
Can't fault this piece of useful equipment. Very easy to set up out of the box and simple controls for on/off and reset that are protected by waterproof see-through covers. Powerful motor that dealt with some very thick and knobbly branches. I did get one jam which caused a cut-out but was easily remedied by isolating the shredder, removing the top cover to reveal a short wedge of wood that had stubbornly refused to get shredded. Put it back together and within a few minutes after pressing the reset, I was back working again. The assembled unit isn't too heavy. The wheels help. However, being a narrow axle the unit tends to tip on rough surfaces when being towed. That being a minor issue, I can't mark it down. The upside is the reasonable price for a nice bit of kit that has helped clear up a part of the garden covered in branch cuttings some of which were 5ft (>1.5m) long. The chippings are now scattered under the base of the tree the branches came from so, another bonus!

Great tool
Just used this for the first time and I was pleased with the results. Fairly simple to put together, but insert the axle in the legs before putting them into place on the body. The shredding mechanism worked well on the thin branches I had to dispose of, but it is quite noisy to operate up close. There is an excellent long electric lead which means I could wheel it over to the pile rather than the other way round. The unit feels sturdy and is ideal for what I need. I don’t have any larger branches to test it out, but it was good with what I had.

Good quality and functional.
We had been considering buying a garden shredder for a long time - but we were put off by almost every shredder having some quite negative reviews - even the expensive ones. A local gardener suggested this one - and it has exceeded our expectations after a few uses. We were advised against spending a lot on an expensive one. The shredder makes short work of the prunings from the garden bushes and trees. A big heap of prunings produces about half a bag of fine shreddings which can then be spread as a mulch. Feeding the shredder is easy enough, and woody bits up to about 1.5cm diameter disappear quickly. The push tool helps the leafier bits go through. Sure it’s quite noisy, but it’s quick. The wire is plenty long enough and seems good quality. The shreddings all end up in the bag supplied - it is very functional for our needs. The machine seems to be well made and quite sturdy. Assembly was easy enough. It’s on wheels, so is easily moved. It is stable enough in use. I wish we’d bought this a few years ago.

Hyundai Garden Shredder HYCH2400E
I purchased this Hyundai garden shredder as a replacement of a Bosch AXT Rapid 2200 shredder which developed a fault after about 15 years of use. Unfortunately the functionality of the Hyundai model fell short for a number of reasons: The feeder opening was too small so not easy to use, the material clogged above the blades so did not pass through into the collection bag - the garden material being shredded was only leaves and thin twigs and branches about 5mm in diameter. The shredder is, however very well built, easy to assemble and has good features with a 3 year guarantee but in my situation was not suited to my needs so was returned a full refund - Amazon should congratulated for their understanding in returning the product.

Really efficient shredder!
After comparing different shredders I bought this one and am really impressed. Having heavily trimmed two large trees I was left with two very big piles of branches, one from a giant bay tree and the other from a beech...this shredder dealt with everything incredibly well from the bay with lots of leaves to the dryer beech. I didn't push my luck with the thicker branches but it munched through everything up to 25-30mm and didn't block up once so I'm left with 20+bags of finely chopped material that's easy to deal with. The length of the cable is very useful and the noise isn't excessive although noisier with the thicker pieces...it really does pull the material through almost automatically and although I was dubious of the plastic bag which collects the chippings it really does work well and is easy to handle. Very easy to assemble using the spanner provided. Highly recommended!!

Great Product
This is the 3rd different brand of have purchased of the last 10 years. So far this is the best. TOP TIP THOUGH. ALL brands seem to jam up if you put in branches that still have lots of leaves on. The odd leaf is fine, but too many makes the chippings damp and they get stuck in the machine and cause a jam. I have been stripping the leaves on to the ground and then go over them with my hover mower. This cuts them up really well, and sucks them up, so they will compost much quicker. The chipper also makes very small chippings, which is great as they will also compost down quicker. ANOTHER TIP; This chipper comes with a bag to catch the chippings. Remember to keep an eye on the contents. They tend to build up at one end of the bag (the bit you can't see when you look down) and if you don't clear it before it reaches the bottom of the machine, the chippings can't get out and it causes a jam. The only minor downside is the wheels are too close together. This is not a problem whilst in use, but when you are trying to get it out or put it away and you are manoeuvring around things, it tends to fall over. All in all, it feels well made, works well and I am very happy with my purchase.

Works well, if you use it with care
TL:DR - It works well, if you keep the blades sharp and allow the material to dry before processing. This is the most recent in a long line of garden shredders we have had over the years and is definitely one of the better ones we've owned. We've had both crusher and and rotating blade types of shredder and each have their own strengths and weaknesses. If you don't have the space or budget for both types of shredder, I suggest this is the one to get. It can handle most types of garden waste as long as you keep the blades sharp (they are easy to remove) , don't overfeed it, don't use too thick branches and you let the garden waste dry out first (especially if it contains green stalks and leaves - leave it for a couple of weeks to dry out.) If you pay attention to the above points, you should find this shredder works well. It produces fine chips that are excellent for the compost bin and it's not difficult to feed as the shredder draws stalks and branches in automatically. It only needs help, when material gets stuck in the feeder's mouth (eg when there's a fork in a branch). If you find it's not easy to feed, you could be trying to put too much in at a time, the blades are blunt, or the material is too wet. And, if you're feeding in long, whippy branches of rose bushes (for example), take care, as they can flail around as they're drawn in to the shredder. Re the blades - Hyundai doesn't seem to offer replacement blades at the moment, but the blades it uses are simple straight pieces of steel, that are easily sharpened if you have appropriate sharpening stones or grinding wheels. One more thing, don't bother with the bag that's included to collect the shredded waste, I use a gorilla tub. It's quicker to empty and you can see when the clippings are piling up, another common source of blockages.

Great but for one thing
When the shredder arrived I was impressed by its compactness and ease of build. I then used the shredder for the first time on the 11/07/24 and after less than two hours of use the shredder stopped cutting the twigs and garden waste. I cleaned up the blades but to no avail as they had lost their sharpness so will have to turn them round for the next time. I was careful not to put anything more than approx 2cm in diameter into the shredder thinking that this would help the longevity of the blades. Guess I got a ‘Friday afternoon machine’!

It will cut
Works great. Just make sure you don't put too much leaves in at a time or big sticks. Small brush from yard/garden cleanup to make my own mulch. I've sharpened the blades a few times. If shipping wasn't so expensive I'd get a bigger machine but this will do for now. The output is not always consistent. Sometimes it makes sawdust, sometimes flakes and sometimes like longer shredded sticks. It probably depends on blades sharpness and the type of material going in.
