how are they different from human lancet?

These are 21g lancets, which is a heavier (thicker) gauge. Most people use a 30g or 33g lancet as it is thinner and causes less pain. A 21g lancets is used on animals to provide for consistent depth penetration when drawing the blood sample from your dog or cat as the testing sites are usually harder to draw blood from (paws, ear, etc).

Due to this is just to poke to get blood for the test strip. It should work fine

Where on the dog are you poking to get the blood sample?

I shave a small area on the top of my dogs tail , near where the tail starts . I pull up a small amount of skin between my thumb and index finger and then polk it with the lancet, it can take a 5-10 sec. before you get a nice drop of blood, but that depends on your dog - it could be faster. I have tried the upper paw pad and the ear - it's just too uncomfortable for the dog.

When do these expire?

I dont think they expire. These are just the lancets that poke the pet to draw blood. Theres nothing in them. Just plastic & small needle :-)
