The Little Tug That Could . . .
Here is a perfect example of a simple toy of multiple uses. I first ordered this cute little tug because my 15 month old daughter didn't have many tub toys . . . or rather, almost all of her tub toys, with the exception of a trio of duckies, were from my kitchen and I was starting to need some of them back! The price was reasonable, and I really liked the fact that it was made from recycled materials and didn't contain any BPA. When it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by just how large it was (comparable to a kid's watering can); I knew that it had a spout so that one could pour the water from it, but now I began to get my hopes up: oh, could this possibly be the solution to the horror that is hairwashing night at our house? Just so you understand how horrible hairwashing can be, my daughter has, pretty much from birth, screamed while getting her hair washed (as in, blood-curdling, get-a-mother's-heart-racing, thank-goodness-the-neighbors-are-an-acre-away-and-so-hopefully-can't-hear-this-when-the-windows-are-open SCREAMS); she does not like getting her hair washed, oh no she does not. At this point, I was pretty much using a plastic takeout container of water to try to get the rinsing done as quickly as possible. While looking at the cute red tug boat, however, I began to think "hmmm, it holds more water than the takeout container, which could make it an even faster job, but it's also got that spout and a handle, so it should be easier to control and aim . . . plus it's cute and brightly colored - could be distratcting!" I let her play with the tug during the next couple (non-hairwashing) baths - after all, I didn't want her to necessarily associate it with hairwashing and start hating the poor thing! I then got ready to use it: first I used it to wet her hair down - not a peep and not a drop of water in her eyes! I then sudsed up her hair, which she barely seemed to even notice (usually she's already in the middle of "Upset-town," by this point - just try keeping shampoo out of the face of a squirming and miserable kid). I held my breath for the final test: actually rinsing her hair . . . I rinsed most of the shampoo out of the back of her hair first . . . still nothing! She did get a bit upset when I got to the front of her hair and the all over final rinse; maybe part of her problem is that she just doesn't like having to tilt her head back. But this was more just general "eh-eh-eh" whiney-ness; there were - I kid you not - NO SCREAMS! Have I mentioned that I just LOVE this tug boat?!! Just so you know, it's also just a nice basic tub toy. It floats beautifully (you have to really push it down under the water . . . or maybe have a child who likes to do recreations of horrible storms at sea during his or her baths . . . to get water in it). It pours beautifully (a godsend for me, but also a pleasurable detail for my daughter who, in common with many toddlers, just loves pouring things into other things). And that handy handle on the back has become a water slide for my daughter's duck family - WHEEEEEE! This product is definitely recommended!

Perfect bath toy
This is really nice for use in the tub. It floats well and even younger children can use it. The handle is easy to grip and it pours easy. Even though it is made out of recycled milk jugs, it is very durable. Like others have said, it is good for rinsing off a child who doesn't like water being poured on their heads. My son usually doesn't mind this. Probably because the stream of water is more controlled than a cup or bucket. I haven't noticed any mold/mildew growing inside. We live in Florida and mold grows fast here. Often overnight. But we are approaching summer so it could happen. Like with any bath toy, it would be best to routinely soak it in bleach, Lysol, or your favorite brand of oxygen bleach. Even Peroxide and baking soda works well. And I'm sure that you could even pour a solution directly inside the cavity and let it soak.

The carry around everywhere you go Tug boat
I find Green Toys to be an amazing brand. The prices are always great, and this tug boat is no exception to their high quality. My son LOVES to use this during bath time or pool time. Its a great size, not a tiny boat at all. The handle is perfect for him to float it around, sink it to fill it with water and to pick up the boat to pour the water out. (He also uses the handle as a slide for his little play passengers!) It's a simple, easy imagination play boat that is sturdy and fun!

Great in the tub
I gave this little tug boat to my 15 month old grandson for Christmas. To be honest, I had put this companies green recycling truck in my Amazon shopping basket and just wanted to get the free shipping, so I added this...you can always use a new bathtub toy right? It's very sturdy, floats well, the colors are good, but even better, when pushed down into the water and is submerged, it fills fast, and with the neat handle, it does make a super head rinsing aid on hair-washing nights! A good buy!

Fun for all ages
Our family LOVES this little boat, I love that it is made from recycled materials and makes rinsing my daughters' hair fun and much less traumatic! My daughters (3yrs & 9months) love pushing it around in the tub, pouring water out of it, letting other toys ride on it, sinking it, etc... I was a little worried it wouldn't float due to other reviews I read but we haven't had any problems like that. If there are "waves" in the tub then it floats, but I think that teaches my daughters some sort of physics lesson. This is an awesome little toy!

Coolest Tugboat Ever.
This is really just the coolest bath toy I've ever seen. The design is so aesthetically pleasing that you could almost set it on a shelf as a work of art. I purchased the red and blue tugboat as a Christmas gift for my 1-year old nephew and let me tell you...I have never been so jealous of a 1-year old in my entire life. If I had a decent bathtub, I might keep it for myself. It just has this fascinating charm about it that makes you want to look at it and hold it. It's made out of recycled milk jugs but it has a very satisfying weight and texture. This is a great buy for anybody who enjoys awesome bath time toys.

redesigned for easier cleaning. !!!
Important note: the green toy tug boat has been redesigned, apparently to address some of the issues pointed out in the few negative reviews it has received. The new design can be identified buy four “cleats” along the outer edge of the deck and a little cross shaped barrier in the pilot house door window. The cleats are the color of the hull and are now what hold the deck to the hull (no screws). The boat can now be easily dissembled by pressing in on the cleats and separating the deck from the hull. the boat can then easily be cleaned inside and out. It then just snaps back together. (the pictures in the ad still show the old design as of this writing) green toys may seem expensive for simple plastic toys, but they are very well made and have a real rugged feel to them that makes me think they will last a long time. The boat is ~9” long with a ~5” beam. I test it and it floats quite well. I purchased this one as a gag gift for work. I have purchased some in the past as gifts for other’s kids and they are always well received.

Fantastic bath toy, but the Green Toys Ferry is better
Fantastic bath toy. Is exactly what it looks like, and very high quality. The only reason why it gets four stars is because it isn't as much fun as the Green Toys Ferry Boat with Mini Cars Bathtub Toy, Blue/White . We bought this and the ferry together, and since the ferry has a moving ramp and two cars, it is simply more fun. That doesn't mean that my son doesn't like this toy, he does, but he likes the ferry a whole lot more so he mostly plays with the ferry. The boat is all thick, high quality plastic (made of recycled milk cartons in case your into that), and the deck can easily be removed from the hull by an adult for easy cleaning. But since it drains super easily, after all the whole point of the toy is to pour out the water, that really isn't much of an issue anyways. Definitely a five star toy, but since the ferry is better, I highly recommend you buy it instead. Perhaps i you have a one year old then you might want this first as its simpler, but for a two year old buy the ferry!

beau bateau
