Its a screen. Doesnt catch the fish. Have to watch the little live feed on the right side and mark waypoints where fish pop up. Then you can go to the map and check the waypoints and fish that area. Pretty simple. As far as the screen spazzing out like others mentioned, happened to me once, I forgot to charge my Battery the night before and it died mid day so thats what happens when you run outta battery the screen spazzes out. Great fish finder once you learn what every thing is and how to operate it the right way!

Do not purchase! Is not as advertised. The reveal 7x does not have GPS mapping. Worthless product and waste of money. Upgrade to a better version.

The downloaded maps will put you on the rocks everytime you go out and the extra 200$ card I paid for wasn’t in the box or unit. Not to mention the sounder only goes to 300’. And now it turns off automatically after 30 seconds

Easy to instal, easy to you! I would recommend watch the you tube videos about this unit to properly learn how to use it!

The sonar unit is pretty good. Everything works as expected. What is very disappointing is the Contour+ map card being sold with this unit is discontinued and no longer updateable. My experience with these maps is that the depths are way off. Not just a little but a lot. Don't buy the unit with the maps installed. Buy them elsewhere. Update: The Lowrance / C-Map people were kind enough to update my discontinued "Contour+" card to a "Discover" card. It wasn't easy but they did come through for me.
