Doesn't work
Would not recommend this item, it doesn't repel cats. The cats simply walked by the device and wasn't alarmed at all.

I've had a few different IR cat repellers and, to be honest, none of them are exactly great. This one, however, is just pathetic. First you want to charge the batteries. Unfortunately it will only trickle charge from the mains adapter. I gave up after 48 hours of charging and removed the batteries to charge. As with most other models, the batteries are a very poor capacity. If you were to swap them for some decent ones, you'd have to wait a week for a charge using the adapter. There are no controls on this device. Not necessarily a bad thing as the knobs on others allow moisture in and they fail after a year or two. This just has an on/off switch behind a rubber diaphragm, making it moderately weatherproof. However, the sensitivity is way too high. During the day, the sun shining on anything within 20 feet of the device will set it off. Blades of grass or leaves waving in the wind, heat shimmer, etc. It just spends all day triggering. Which flattens the batteries in no time. So I thought I'd be clever and switch it on only at night. Maybe the solar cell can charge the battery during the day. Imagine my dismay when I watched a cat walk past this device in the dark and it completely failed to trigger. The one thing it is supposed to be sensitive to, it isn't! If you want an IR cat scarer, get another brand, these are useless.
