The Art of The Last of Us

Allow me to start off with: The Last of Us was just a wonderful cinematic game. There hasn't been anything that could compare. Now being a big fan of the game, I was more importantly interested in the conceptual art due to being an Animation major, I have always admired their wonderful landscaping. When I saw they had it for such an amazing price on Amazon I had to get it. I was a bit wary because you can take a sneak peek of the book on here and thought maybe I had just seen the whole book on there. After ordering, it arrived ten days later in a box encased with padded bubble wrap and air cushions. What they show on the sneak peek is not even half of what you actually get in the book. The book has a beautiful hard cover and is sectioned off into "chapters" It goes in chronological order of what happened in the game. Everything from Young Joel and Sarah's conceptual design down to the University of Eastern Colorado's logo. There are pages and pages on Ellie's designs. It's interesting how it shows how she was a short-haired redhead once. It's also pretty hilarious how the infected designs are in the back, like the team that put the art book together were saving it for a big finale and boy, do they not disappoint. The infected conceptual art is mindblowingly amazing and creepy. They used to look really alien, I'm talking about severed heads being dragged behind by a two legged monster, but I'm glad they reigned it in and we got our Clickers. I could honestly go on and on about the book, but really take my word for it, it's worth every cent.

The Art of Last of Us is a wonderful art book to Naughty Dog's latest game. I also have the Uncharted 2 art book and I love that book. I love this one too. This book is packed with character designs and environment art. The concept art is top notch. All the characters and infected are drawn out in detail and colour. There are various designs for each character. Lots to see. The infected, if you have not played the game, are not traditional zombies. They have been infected by some deadly fungus that grows and consumes the human body. You get to see some interesting and scary designs that you would not get from typical zombies. The environment art are painted with astonishing amount of detail that makes everything seem so real. There are the devastated towns, rundown buildings, deserted streets and ransacked rooms. Most scenes depicted will make you wonder what the hell happened there. The level of realism you see here is unmatched even by big budget movie sets. Spoilers appear in the book either as text or pictures. So definitely play the game first before going through the book. Other than that, there's not much text except the occasional comments on the art and game. This is a fantastic video game art book. Highly recommended. Oh, play the game first if you can. JUST BEAUTIFUL! This is certainly a big and beautiful assemble of the greatest conceptual artworks I ever saw together, I must say Naughty Dog have some of the most talented artists in the industry nowadays, the artworks are really beautiful and it's nice to see some earlier versions of characters and environments of the game in those pages, it really added more dept in the understanding of the game goal and artistic vision. Why not give credits for the artists? As I said, Naughty Dog have some the most talented artists in the industry nowadays, like Maciej Kuciara, James Paick, Aaron Limonick, John Sweeney, Eytan Zana, Shaddy Safadi, Marek Okon, Nick Gindraux, Hyoung Nam, and Alexandria Neonakis, people that worked hard to make this game beautiful but in the end, this compilation or celebration of great artworks end up not having a single artist name on it. It's a shame that they didn't gave the artists some recognition for their big hit as well. I just couldn't find credits for the artists anywhere in the book, just the directors are credited. I think it is a bit unfair and very close minded for a company with such a big creativity in making games. I know that from a company point of view give to much credit for a employee can be a path to lose them to another company, but in a internet generation of easy to find information, they should know that there are other and nicer ways to keep a employee happy enough to not leave the company. Anyway, just unfair. This is a GREAT BOOK! One of the best game art-books on the last 2 years.

I'm a big fan of The Last Of Us series and this was definitely a must have for my collection. Only this was the packaging was terrible and book had damage on the corners and edges.

Sempre stata un'amante di questo gioco, ho comprato l' artbook aspettandomi di vedere qualche schizzo di lavorazione e magari qualche modello mentre sviluppavano il gioco. Invece è molto di più di questo. Vengono spiegati e illustrati molti punti salienti della nascita di questo capolavoro, l'evoluzione dei personaggi da cui prende vita una storia eccezionale. Centinaia e centinaia di schizzi e modelli dall'idea iniziale alla soluzione adottata alla fine. Consiglio vivamente a chiunque abbia apprezzato il primo e il secondo capitolo di questo gioco.

ゲーム自体も名作だったが、画集も名作。テスの初期構想とか見ていると、最初は敵キャラでデザインされていたのだろうか？ 特に注目したいのが背景の絵の多さ。背景は見落とされることが多いけど、このゲームにおいて世界観を形作る特に大きな要素だと再認識した。英語は分からないが、絵を見ているだけでどれも設定などをよく考えたうえで練られたことが分かって面白い。 そして感染者の項目は改めて（いい意味で）キモいって思う。よくこんな気持ち悪いものを考えたと、絵をマジマジと見つめながら思った。でも、ただキモいだけじゃなくて、感染者になった悲しみというか、そういう感情まで感じさせるのはさすがだ。実際にこんな奴出てきたらどうしよう、とか想像してるだけでちょっとしたホラーな気分に浸れる。 ゲームだけでなく、画集も気合入っているので間違いなくお勧めです。ゲームを知らない人にもお勧めできるレベル。 それにしても、表紙絵をあらためて見るとホントすごいな・・・ 男が二人血眼になって取っ組み合って、その背後にナイフを振りかぶる少女って・・・光の当たり方で善と悪を象徴しているかのようにも見えるし、この絵だけでも奥が深い。 ※ちなみに自分は書籍で買いました。キンドル版は評判悪いみたいなので、ちょっと残念・・・ でも、書籍で見る方が何となくこのゲームの雰囲気に合っているような気がする。 高いけど、書籍で買って後悔はしていない。

Incluye un sello de garantía, descripciones de como fueron creando a los personajes, ciertas localizaciones y edificaciones que aparecen. También se observan bocetos mostrando como le dieron vida al juego poco a poco.
