It Works! It Really Works!
So, I had this crazy idea that I could build a portable isolation microphone station with a music stand attached. After a lot of shopping here on Amazon and elsewhere, I decided to try using a Stagg MUS-ARM 1 Small Music Stand, an On-Stage MSA9502 Posi-Lok Mini Microphone Boom Arm, a Rockville Recording Studio Microphone Isolation Shield + Heavy Duty Tripod Stand, and a CAMVATE Ultraclamp with 5/8"-27 thread for microphones (Model #8541754602), I put them all together (along with an Anwenk Rubber Pads Rubber Washers with 1/4" Screw Hole for adjustment purposes) and IT WORKED! I actually built a portable isolation microphone station with a music stand! The clamp that came with the Stagg music stand would only fit around a regular microphone pole. But, I needed something that could fit around that heavy duty Rockville Tripod. The Cavamate clamp did the trick. However, now I needed to be able to connect the Stagg music stand to the Cavamate clamp. That's where the On-Stage boom arm came in! These items came together perfectly to form the configuration that I was looking to build. Well... almost perfectly. The threading on the boom arm when I connected it to the clamp ended with the boom arm about 45 degrees off of the direction I needed it to be in for the music stand to correctly oriented. So, I found the Anwenk Rubber Pads Rubber Washers and I only needed one to give me just the right amount of adjustment to get the orientation right! And it WORKS! It's strong, and sturdy. The tripod can hold all that weight without tipping over. It's GREAT!

Better than long boom arms
I like these short boom arms much better than long ones. The teeth positively lock the angle where you set it. They are very sturdy and fit regular mic stands without an adapter.

Great solution to use with OnStage MSA5000 Mic Stand Laptop Mount.
I bought this to build a third level on my single column 2 tier keyboard stand. Most of these stands have a microphone boom mounting screw which could be used for other purposes. I used this small arm to build a third level for my small synth module (see the photo). So far it works great, the locking mechanism is all metal and seems to be holding up under weight well. The only reason I give it 4 stars is a price as it seems bit expensive for what it is, two pieces of metal tube and clamping mechanism. I would buy it again as I have not found anything else that would work for my particular purpose.

Very sturdy arm
I bought it for a snow ball mic I have, and I had a mic stand that was only vertical, so couldn't use my mic very well when sitting down. I was hesitant since other reviews said it couldn't withstand much weight, and the snowball is a heavy mic. Upon getting it noticed that the mechanism for holding it in place latches in place very tight, so it had no issues holding the snow ball. Was able to attach it easily to my existing stand because the arm has a 5/8 connector. It can also be moved 90 degrees vertically, so that makes it easy to position a mic for when I'm sitting or standing.

NOT 15"
OnStage Posi-Lok Mini Microphone Boom Arm, Black 15 x 3 x 5 inches This boom is 7", not 15" as in the top description. Be warned. other than that, it's OK. Just half the length I thought it would be.

Best mic stand for close quarters
I play in a music duo and we play in really tight spaces. This is very compact and works well in space or in tight spaces.

Great for stabilizing overhead cam for amateur crafter streaming
My wife and I have been running a totally free online summer camp for adults called "Camp Yampire" since the pandemic. We self-fund, no sponsors, so we need affordable equipment that makes it easier to deliver quality content. Before I bought this, the weight of my equipment would slowly sink everything closer and closer to the table or to a weird angle facing away from our crafts table. This mount is solid as a rock. Everything stayed in place and I was even able to add additional lights to reduce shadows during our live crafting sessions. I combined this mount with a convertor to downsize the connector to a camera mount size on both the male and female connectors so I could mount it on a standard weighted photography tripod and connect my other photography mounts to the end of it to build the perfect streaming rig for our event. This mount really leveled up the professionalism of our event by reducing the usual "technical difficulties" we face from sub par, "do the best you can with whatever you have" solutions. Trying to do a nice thing for others for free can be a heavy hit to our finances. However, affordable equipment like this has saved us from over-using our funds and additionally helped us save another very limited resource that is much more valuable to me, our time.

Confirming that this uses industry standard thread size. It screwed onto my Samson mic base and my Blue condensor mic screwed on to this boom arm nicely. The teeth based arm angle mechanism is fine for set and forget, but if you're running a studio and changing the arm angle regularly I suggest finding a different brand that doesn't use the locking teeth method (used on typical cheap keyboard x stands). Suggestion: when adjusting the teeth-based boom arm angle mechanism, squeeze the teeth together with one hand while screwing the clasp with the other. That will prevent you accidentally ruining the teeth through screw force.

I really like these little add ons, they are very handy especially when using heavier mics. Far superior to a generic boom for many applications. Once you lock these in place they are not going to move on you. No rubber bits to wear out, etc.
