Best in class
Best pulaski I've used and I used them a lot. This handle is thinner and less bulky as many but super durable. Its my go to pulaski for our crews and worth the additional cost compared to box store offerings

Great tool
My husband is a wild land firefighter and wanted to add to his collection. The handle is very rough, will need to be sanded and oiled. Great tool for him out on the fire line. He loved it.

Worked Better Than the Fiberglass Equivalent.
This axe replaced a fiberglass Truper axe with a fiberglass handle. The Truper fiberglass handle came lose. This is my gut reaction. The wooden handle allows more control and force when striking the log. The blade/head appears to even cut deeper. Very subjective. However, I will never buy another fiberglass axe. Impossible to fix correctly!

Good axe, bad seller
This is literally the first Amazon review I have ever written. Given the quality of the product I received I felt it warranted the effort to finally complete my Amazon profile and fill this out. The axe itself is satisfactory and brings no immediate cause for concern, but buyer beware the seller (I went with Supply Price). Attached below are two different images showing how my Pulaski was packaged and sent to me ..... an absolute joke. The axe head survived transit though there were holes in the box surrounding the adze (bottom right of first photo), but much to no one's surprise the handle was gouged out and scraped up. Packaging consisted of a Grainger box folded in half and cellophane wrapped around it .... no padding, no handle protection .... nothing.

For work: Not for show
I bought two of these Pulaski axes for a forestry group. They arrived early and were packed well. They came with two stickers on the head and one sticker on handle. They looked good at first glance but closer inspection revealed some flaws. Starting with the handles, the handles came un varnished, comfortable, and straight which is a good thing. There was not a council tool logo on handles (as pictured) which is not a pro or con. The grain orientation on the handles wasn't good, on one handle the grain orientation was perpendicular to what it should be and the second handle had a grain orientation of about 45 degrees. My guess is that the handles are hit or miss depending on your luck. The heads of the axes were red and had a lacquer on blades as described. The blades weren't super sharp but were decent enough to start using immediately. The heads were stamped "USA 18" on one side and stamped with the council tool logo on the other. When bought these I thought I was buying the Pulaski heads that didn't have the twist making the mattock bit. Both of mine do have this twist which is solely cosmetic. The twist is hard to see in the pictures in description. But these aren't show toys and they perform well. So far they've been a joy to use and looking forward to many years of use. Always happy to support products made in the USA.

I love it! Excellent quality!
My old Harbor Freight "Pulaski axe" finally fell apart on my. One of my employees suggested getting a better one to replace it. I figured a Pulaski is just a Pulaski and it wouldn't make any diference other than appearance... Boy was I wrong! This Council Toll Pulaski is so well banced and the steel is MUCH better. The Harbor Freight Pulaski was getting old, but the metal would chip when a rock was struck. That also presented a safety concern. This Pulaski hasn't chipped at all yet, even in the same rocky soil in my area. In the future, I will always spend a bit more and get a quality Pulaski like this Council Tool Pulaski Axe. Highly recommended!

Best hillside clearing tool there is.
The drought and watering restrictions killed a lot of our hillside shrubs, mostly old rosemary. A pickaxe is too heavy and unwieldy for an old guy like me to use on a hillside, and I had some close calls with losing my balance. I had a smaller, cheap pulaski copy I bought a while back, but these tough old rosemary roots were too much for it: it was slow work and and I finally broke the handle right at the head. (Don't pry: cut!) Rather than buy a new handle, I thought it would be better to try a larger, better made tool. This one arrived promptly. I dressed the mattock blade a little (really not much) with a file and took the burr off the axe blade and went to work. It cuts through those old roots in no time, and I am really amazed at how fast the work is going. I even used the mattock to dress up the dirt path along the hillside. The pulaski works better than a pickaxe for both purposes as it is lighter and easier to do precision work. You pay more for a well made tool. This one is made in the USA and clearly is done right. Get the real McCoy. It's dark now, so I can't cut out any more roots, but I can't wait to get back at clearing the hillside for new planting in the morning.
