I will always keep this product in my medicine cabinet
Boy I get some awful cysts. Doesn't happen very often but when it does this is the only product that helps pain he actually feels a little bit better as soon as I rub this on. Mine you this stuff is dark brown almost black and petroleum jelly consistency. It does not smell good. It does work. It will help draw the infection to the top of your skin. And once that infection is out it is instant relief for me. This product works good for cysts I'm not sure about boils.

Amazing for HS boils
I never had a BIG issue with boils/ingrown hair in bikini line area until about a year ago. I went from a standing position job to sitting during pandemic and then hit menopause so was getting an ingrown hair almost every week (stopped waxing so that's most likely the culprit). I had a golf size boil on my groin that literally kept me from walking (I am 5'6 150 lbs and could not even get a size large underwear to cover bc so swollen). I do have health insurance, however my sister had a terrible experience with lancing so I was DESPERATE!!! Applied this ointment and took about 12 hours to bring it to surface. Let me tell you, it was disgusting, no lie had to sit on toilet to let it drain before even trying to clean it. It will NOT miraculously drain all puss. You must apply gentle pressure around the area to coax it out. I had to reapply bandages with this ointment for about 10 days. No scar, no surgery. So that's fantastic. NOTES: I read so many reviews and was a little unsure how much to apply, how often, what bandages? So the following is my personal input. 1) apply on the bandage. You can apply directly on skin, however the bandage will wick it away. Apply the size of the diameter of the boil to the bandage, then place bandage over boil. 2) I am allergic to adhesive so I have to buy silicone bandaid, but they're great for being able to take a peak, apply more ointment, or see that it's busted. Search silicone bandages on Amazon and tons of options 3) once the boil has started to drain, I HIGHLY recommend using gauze or pad vs a bandage. Bandages apply pressure and do not allow for drainage 4) once open and you reapply, it stings like lemon juice on a paper cut, but dissipates quickly I truly hope this helps someone, it was a miracle for me!

Love this salve
It actually works. I put a small amount on splinter, cover with a band-aid, wait a few hours. It always gets the job done

Old timer medicine.
My granny used to use this for splinters and bringing pimples to a head! I had forgotten all about it until I an across it in a cvs. The drug store brand worked great. This kind was much more “stiff” and not quite as effective (ie: took longer and and an extra application) but who knows if that was the product or the type of injury we were using it for. I know the one I got from Amazon didn’t spread or penetrate as easily. Maybe it was an old box.

A Household Necessity
This stuff is incredible. A brief intro into how I found it: my girlfriend began working at an elderly care facility. After a month or so, we both developed large, painful puss-filled abscesses. We assume she brought an aggressive form of staph or something similar home from work on her shoes or scrubs. We tried physician prescribed antibiotics, which were mostly effective. However, the antibiotics would only cause some abscesses to disappear and reappear a week or so later once the drug-resistant microbes reestablished a population and the infection resumed. I began to look elsewhere for a permanent solution. The internet is crawling with house remedies, but most proved useless, and the rest only partially effective. Then, I bought a tube of this. Three days later, our abscesses were completely drained and healing. Any time we would begin to develop another, we would put a bandaid slathered in this ointment on it and a day or two later, they were either gone or at a head/draining. It's not just limited to abscesses. I've tested it on insect/spider bites, an infected cut, splinters, a hangnail... really anything that involves inflamed skin or pus. Just rub it on and cover it with a bandaid and forget about it. There are two major downsides to this ointment. First, it reeks after it's been on the skin for a couple hours. Nothing strong enough to offend anyone near you, but strong enough to wrinkle your nose when you peel the bandaid off. Second, it stains. I now have "skid-marks" on my favorite pair of undies because the bandaid came loose on my cheeks and this ointment got rubbed in. So, to sum: great for you, bad for clothes. Use it, but don't let it get near your favorite pair of undies or you'll end up like me.

Cystric Growth on Head, Psoriasis on Hands/Fingers, Cancer tumor on dog paw
I purchased this product based on the positive reviews and specifically to help reduce/eliminate a couple of cystic growths on my head. In the past, I have had these growths surgically removed (outpatient) but neither I nor my dr. could never stop/prevent or predict when/why these growths occurred. I must say I have been amazed at how effective this product has been. The cystic growths have gone away on their own after using this product. I am beyond amazed and extremely pleased. No more need to have surgery to remove these growths. Yeah! In addition, I have recently begun using this product to treat psoriasis on my hands (knuckles) and fingers (sides/bottom) that suddenly occurred in February 2017 and has persisted to the present. I tried another product, MG217 specifically for psoriasis, but it failed miserably and smelled even worse. That product was thin & smelly. This product doesn't smell like the MG217 and is much thicker. This product has been slowly returning my hands/fingers to normal, healthy skin. It's a nightly application process (and I don't like doing it) but it is working and my hands/fingers are about 90% better. This product seems to be healing the cuts/open wounds/red dry skin on my hands/fingers and I've only been using this product for about 1 month for this purpose. In addition, I used this product on my dog when she had a cancerous tumor on her left paw and this product healed that tumor. (She still had cancer and died in time, but she didn't have her paw cutoff). I would highly recommend this product as it has saved me from having surgery, prevented my dog from having surgery and has given me power finding effective treatments to heal myself and family.

The Best Stuff
Ichthammol Ointment 20% is THE best drawing salve you can get. I doubt it makes much difference the brand. It's like a generic thing. I ususally don't use it for every minor injury (but wouldn't hurt). This stuff works best with insect bites, splinters, or other small injuries which are getting angry and infected. I've used this stuff on infections that are pussy, spreading, and starting to get red tendrils (not good) which might send many people running to the doctor. Put a glob of this stuff over the infected area, cover with gauze and tape and it will start doing it's thing. It will not only start drawing out the infection, but also will stop itch and pain. In a couple three days you're good. The drawbacks: it's like tar, smells like tar, looks like tar, and needs to be put on generously with a bandage to cover (and soak up the vile stuff. While it is great for insect bites and bee stings to help with pain and swelling, it's not a cream which you can just rub in. It's black and like petroleum jelly will get all over your clothes and furniture if not covered. This belongs in every first aid kit.

Must have in the cabinet
Bought this for my mother as she swore by it. Well a few days after receiving the product I end up with a rash and this product works great. Don’t wear anything you wouldn’t want to get sticky. Within a few days I was all cleared up.
