Far Better Than the Google Nest Hello – Super Fast and Reliable
I recently switched to the Ring Wired Video Doorbell Pro after using the Google Nest Hello, and I couldn’t be happier with the decision. The Google Nest was painfully slow to load videos, and notifications were always delayed, even though I have a 500mb fiber connection. It was frustrating, especially when I needed to see who was at the door in real-time. The Ring Wired Video Doorbell Pro is a complete game changer. The video quality is incredible with its 1536p HD and head-to-toe view, so I can clearly see everything at my door, including packages on the ground. What impressed me most is the 3D motion detection – it’s super accurate and alerts me immediately, without any delay. It’s reassuring to know that I won’t miss anything important anymore. Installation was straightforward since it’s hardwired, and the Wi-Fi connection has been rock solid with no buffering or slowdowns. Notifications come through instantly, which is a huge relief after my experience with the Google Nest. The Ring Protect free trial is a nice bonus, and I’m already considering keeping the subscription because the additional features are worth it. Overall, if you’re looking for a reliable, fast, and feature-packed video doorbell, the Ring Wired Video Doorbell Pro is a no-brainer. It’s miles ahead of the competition, and I highly recommend it.

Great Smart Doorbell
Easy to install. Long power lead was great. Has worked very well so far. I was worried that there would be problems when it was in full sun but still works flawlessly despite getting hot. Detection is accurate and messages come through rapidly. I did check wi-fi strength before installing, as it is quite a way from the router. The strength was quite low but the doorbell copes. The ringers are not terribly loud. It is a pity there is the need to subscribe to continue to have recordings, would prefer to be able to make use of existing cloud storage or a NAS. It is also unfortunate that it is not compatible with Google Nest. Both these I knew before purchase so i can't really complain.

Rings a bell
This is our second Right Pro door bell for our second home abroad. Since we bought our fist Ring Pro doorbell a few months ago our range of Ring products has been steadily increasing and the app has been filled up with more connected devices. So obviously I’ve turned into a big fan of the Ring door bells and devices. I tend to prefer the higher-end Ring Pro version, because it is more compact, but also because it is powered by the mains. I think it’s fairly pointless to have a battery powered doorbell, in particular since we are frequently away for a sustained period. Upon opening the box you can see that Ring is a high quality and very good brand and that all required parts and tools are included to complete a basic installation. If you leave out the wiring, the set up is really a breeze. I had it in place and operational on both our iPhones in less than 15 minutes. Other than our previous Ring Pro bell, only one standard silver face plate is included. However with a voucher included in the box you can order an additional one for free (though you will have to pay for postage). We opted for the dark grey/brown plate matches very well with the style of our house. The face plate is fixed by a somewhat exotic type of screw, so that it cannot be removed that easily, preventing theft of your precious doorbell. In order to power it by the mains I ordered a separate generic £15 power supply that fits in a nearby socket. And, as there was no existing doorbell, I had to drill a small but deep hole through the door post for the wire. For this I had to order a £4 20 cm drill. All this was easily available through Amazon. Lastly, and this was most time consuming, I concealed the new wire between the wall and the skirt board and doorpost by removing some plaster where the wall and skirt board/post connect and later resealed that with white plaster. Job done. Note that no chime is included in this set. So I ordered two, one additional chime for the more remote parts of the house. The Ring works very smoothly and perfectly. The app is straightforward and intuitive. The first month of free Ring subscription that allows you to playback front door motion is a very nice feature. It turns out our front door path and garden is a very lively route for deer at night! We now have two subscriptions for two houses that can all be managed and monitored through a single app and that combined costs us far less than the monthly ADT fee that we used to have until recently.

Great camera, highly recommend but has a couple of issues.
Motion detection is great with you being able to set ranges on it and sensitivity. Night vision is perfect though the colour night vision is definitely over exaggerated on other reviews and videos. Picture quality is absolutely solid though you do get a bit of fish eye distortion which can at some angles make people look a little odd but certainly recognisable. I set an old phone to act as a portable chime that I can use on the ground floor, an echo show 8 as a chime and video interface on the first floor and on the second floor I moved an echo dot to act as another chime. Setting the alexa devices to go into do not disturb modes from certain times means I can leave all the motion alerts on and not have to worry about them waking me up in the middle of the night but can still check the recordings in the morning. Recently this device got an upgrade to the motion detection where it will detect motion and then further detect if its a person, so I have it set to record all motions but only alert for motion if it's a person, plus the standard alert for a doorbell press which is a really nice addition. My one gripe is that it was so difficult to have this device link up to another smart device and auto open the camera on door bell press or motion or any other specific way that I bought an echo show 8 for the purpose but I still have to ask Alexa to show me. From what I found online you used to be able to do it with most smart devices but now you have to go a very long way around with it using multiple apps and smart TV's that it's not really worth the hassle and if anything ever gets updated you run the risk of losing this functionality while you reconnect or wait for compatibility. It also seems that it doesn't like multiple people trying to talk over the intercom (phone/app/device side), one person will often squelch another person out. I got the version where I can run the cable to a plug socket and I run it through my window which works fine, I didn't have a drill bit large enough to get through the wall and I didn't want to risk hitting a wire nor have to attach it to any other mains power through a light switch using transformers. A lot of my interactions through the camera when talking to people have had the issue where they can't really hear me but at least you can visibly see that they seem like they can't hear you.

Works really well for me, chimes and iPhone alerts quick enough, really good camera too
I was a bit wary of getting one of these, then I saw this updated Pro that’s hard wired. As I have a nearby UPS unit for networking, that provides power if the mains goes off, this seemed ideal as no batteries or power cuts to worry about. I don’t do many reviews, but really impressed with this ring device and now others… … as ring is now part of Amazon, really hoping the ring kit gets even better. Fitting was straightforward as I’d already got a hole in the door from a previous door cam. It’s a white door so the white wire isn’t really visible when laid along the contours of the door. I used a high quality double sided tape that’s soft and stretchy, so a thin piece of this is under the wire attaching to the door and not seen. I’ve used such tape before as it’s also easy to remove leaving no marks. As for the performance as a doorbell… … well so far it’s been very good apart from once after I powered it up for the second time when moving the power plug for its final position after testing for a few days. From that point on the mic didn’t work until I rebooted when noticing the problem. Since then so far no more glitches… will update if it comes back. Everything else has worked fine - callers hit the button and the now two internal chimes, well chime. If I can’t answer the door multiple iPhones and iPads typically in the house soon chime and let me speak to the caller - also works if away from home - with no more than a second or two delay from what I can tell. The pictures are supposed to be 1080p, but it’s the quality of the lens that really counts so perhaps not as good as watching good HD TV. Certainly good enough to identify who’s rung the bell or lurking about when the motion detector spots movement. The human recognition mode works well and the ‘radar type mode’ shows with dots where the visitor/intruder has walked is is now. So far really impressed with this, more than a doorbell, as it certainly adds to home security. Now running again without the ‘human mode’ on, as the first time I looked at night I saw a hedgehog walk across the doorway :-) The night vision works well enough too, as does low light and during the morning when it gets full sun into the lens. Surprisingly this doesn’t washout the whole picture just the ball of the white sun. From what I’ve found out on the net this shouldn’t harm the camera - just like it doesn’t the one in my car that has to cope with this. As an improvement I would like video recording all the time not just when there’s motion, at least for the last 24 or 12 hours… … I still decided to join up to their Protect Plus Plan as now have additional cameras and their security system - but that’s another review I can see coming.

excellent resolution compared to prev model, easy set up
Ring Doorbell Pro 2 (Plugin) ====================== We got this to replace our old first gen Ring Doorbell Pro Hardwired. Our orig installation was set up 5 yrs ago by a certified sparky, I took a punt seeing that I was still getting good voltage using a multimeter on it from the old Doorbell Pro 1 transformer, so decided to get the Plugin version and just use the new one with the old transformer. Having received the new doorbell I can see the only difference between the Hardwired and Plugin versions is that the first comes with a chunky transformer that needs mounting in a DIN rail or appropriate and the other includes the slimmer smaller transformer on a 3 pin plug with a long extension. The newer doorbell is approximately the same size, maybe a smidgen smaller in depth, and mounting holes in the same place. My original doorbell pro did not come with a wedge, so this was a nice addition - I just needed another two holes in the wall for the wedge, and I replaced old doorbell with the new one. It took less than ten minutes - the terminals in both new and old are unmarked and the manual says you can use either terminal for neg/live wire. To be safe I used the same order the leccy man put them in years ago. The security screw while being the same size has also changed its head - the new one uses the slightly larger one used in all the other cameras, whilst the old doorbell uses a tiny 1.3mm star design head. Both the old and new security screws still fit the new doorbell. In use, I was quite surprised by the change - the old doorbell’s view is oriented horizontally, but the new one is oriented vertically. We actually like the new orientation for our particular set up, but I can see others might find the older orientation preferable. Unfortunately you can't change it, if you want to switch to the older orientation. With the new doorbell, in the phone app, you can actually zoom the camera view up to the sky and to the floor, so it's better for checking deliveries left on the doorstep. A minor annoyance is with the desktop app - I have been using the Windows desktop app for years - we have one pc permanently on, and on one of the monitors the app is always fullscreened on a screen that's in portrait orientation so provides a nice dashboard of all the cams. They have been saying the app was going to be switched off since 2020, but it still remains working - however the ring doorbell pro 2 does not appear on it, (by design - they don't add any newer camera models), so we are stuck with the web app through a browser which whilst it has improved a lot since the old days, is still not as convenient or as good as the desktop app. The phone app is still the best method since it has the best ui (in both the android and ios Ring app), and for some reason the pictures looks way better on the phones Ring apps than they do in the Ring web app through a browser. The Alexa integration just magically worked by itself without any extra setup - after setting up the new doorbell under the Ring app with a slightly different name to the original doorbell, calling any of the Alexa shows in the house to “Show front doorbell” correctly picks up and displays the new doorbell. Quite impressed I didn't have to faff about trying to add a new doorbell within the Alexa app. Maybe it auto registered with Alexa because we purchased from Amazon rather than Ring direct? Overall, I’ve grudgingly (steep on the wallet, a little hard to swallow) concluded the new resolution definitely makes the pictures look much better when viewed on the phone app. I bought the doorbell pro 2 on sale whilst it's currently going for 169.99. The gamble over the years has paid off - the Ring cameras and doorbell have got better over the years with software and firmware updates. Towards the end of the first doorbell's life though we had started getting a lag between pressing the doorbell and the indoor chimes playing it, repowering and resetting the doorbell would sometimes fix the problem, but it was getting worse so I guess it's reaching towards the end of its life. The new one whilst still being in the same location as the old one and using the same transformer and wiring as the old one, does not seem to have this problem, I just hope the new one lasts as long if not longer than the old one. As a plus I now have a spare ‘camera’ - the old doorbell works just fine as a cam with the new plug in transformer. As with the first doorbell you get an email offering a free faceplate - I never bothered with the first one, which I regretted some years later when the faceplate got scratched during some building work., so it's worth getting the extra faceplate, even if it's the same colour as your existing , so that you have a spare should you ever need to replace it. The other minor annoyance is that checking the account details by logging into Ring through web browser, the account details has changed from Protect Plus Sub into a thirty day trial of it (after purchasing the doorbell pro 2), which is not a problem per say, but I still had 5 months left on this years subscription, so I will need to check to see when it switches back to the sub that it doesn't lose any months already paid for.

Ring Hardwired
Absolutely excellent! Was not aware it came with the solenoid in the box, we went with the Ring plug instead and all working perfectly - very easy to setup and install too. I have heard from a friend that they are having some issues with battery versions and are moving across to hardwired as a result

Ring doorbell and transformer poor quality, nightmare process for replacement
I purchased ring door bell & for a year it’s worked. Then doorbell and transformer failed. Amazon order area directs you to ring customer service. You can’t under warranty get a replacement from Amazon. Beware in Rings process you have to get a qualified electrician at cost to yourself out and spend 30 minutes on phone with ring jumping through all their hurdles. Once you’ve done that despite Amazon having stock of a replacement doorbell/transformer where you originally purchased. Ring has no agreement with Amazon. Ring is out of stock and have no idea when it will be in back stock. I’m left having to purchase another doorbell while waiting for replacement. Ring doesn’t reimburse for electrician and has no customer complaint team. Their subscription is pricey! After experience I’ve had I won’t be buying any future products.
