Quality in looks, ease and feel in writing and being part of history in this writing instrument.
This is a pen that encompasses all the qualities that people who appreciate the finer things in life must own. It is a delight to use but not to share-the sure way to let it walk off, The color as some have said it looks more black than plum. Not so, I see this as a real plum of a writing instrument. I call it my plum of a pen. Oh well its about attitude. In fact, I have picked up three vintage pens. I'm collector of many things and I'm proud to show off the pens as the collection grows including the plum.

Well Made, Best Grip of Parker Ballpoint Pens
I own 2 of the Parker 51 series and they are both great - the gold cap and the gold accented silver cap, both with black barrels. They have the largest / thickest barrels of any of the various Parker pens (Jotters, etc..), which is exactly what I want. This provides the best grip. Well made pens and worth it to "Treat yo' self!"

Handles well, smooth and such a joy to write with.
After reading some negative comments, it made me a bit wary but I took the plunge having had a Parker 21 in my teens, I thought this is an upgrade. I’m so glad I bought it! It did not disappoint. It’s gorgeous, perfect! The nib is very smooth and the weight while writing is fantastic! It’s all I can ever ask for. Now I just have to maintain it well. Pricey but worth it!

Plum color darker than Amazon picture
Upon opening the box, at first glance I thought Amazon had sent me a black pen. The plum color is very dark, not the vibrant fruit color in Amazon's picture; it's more of a blackish shade with plum/brown/burgundy undertones, depending on the quality of your lighting and eyesight. Otherwise it's a nice pen, although weighted toward the top (as another reviewer pointed out in a review of the blue/silver version); the Parker Sonnet ballpoint I have is better balanced. Uses twist action and comes filled with a black medium Parker Quinkflow refill.

most expensive and least impressive fountain pen I have purchased.
I must say for the price of this pen it was such a letdoown. I also have a Parker sonnet and a waterman careen model that not only cost less but have much higher value and build quality. The Plum barrel are literally just plastic. I see his pen being OVERPRICED almost to the point of sucmmy. the barrel of this pen is nothing more then thin cheap plastic. I actually had fallen in love with the look of htis pen from the amazon photos but in person I almost wonder if I have a contierfit version. I have returned this item and will purchasing another Brand or model of fountain pen.

Parker 51 Deluxe fountain pen
This is a beautiful pen that writes smoothly and easily if held correctly. (A slight off center to the right , just as we learned years ago (50) in penmanship class. ) It included 2 refills and 1 converter. My husband has a Mont Blanc and likes this better. I am very pleased with my purchase. The color is a sophisticated plum which shows clearly when held against black or grey. I agree the ad vet seemed lighter, but I think it is lovely.

classy way of protecting against fraud/forgery
Excellent writing tool. Suggested by I.T. gurus as ink sets into paper making forgery difficult. However, gotta remember to clean the nibs at least every other day, otherwise ink congeals and plugs the channel. Cleaning is simply running some cold water over the nib for a few seconds, if you've not used it for a few days, just let the nib soak in an inch of water in a plastic cup, when the water turns the color of the ink, channel is open again.

Overpriced, I think
Oy as pretty as I hoped, and a bit scratchier that my much cheaper Shrivener.

Wounderful fountain pen
I bought this fountain pen last year (the "deluxe", Fine gold nib version) and I am reviewing it now because I wanted to provide a real feedback that is not limited to a few strokes on a page. After writing with it for a year, I have to say that this is a very good fountain pen, writes beautifully, smooth, and is very reliable in the sense that the ink flow is constant and it doesn't dry up as fast as other fountain pens (it might be because of the hooded nib?). Initially I was worried about the metal cap wearing out the plastic threads on the barrel due to constant unscrewing of the cap, but so far that hasn't happened. The only thing I don't like is that the cap posts well on the barrel but not perfect, expect for it to drop sometimes. Otherwise this is a very good writing instrument which I expect to use many years from now on.

Elegante, scorrevole e bellissima.
Per me vale 5 stelle. Tenendo conto che parliamo di una stilografica di alta qualità, ritengo abbia anche un ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Perfetto, come sempre, il servizio di Amazon.

The Parker 51 writes exceptionally smooth
My wife and I both love this pen. The Parker 51 writes exceptionally smooth. The pen is very comfortable to hold and to write with. The pen with the gold cap is very stylish. The pen is a bit on the light side and barrel is plastic and I think The entire pen could be a bit more premium constructed for the amount of money it costs. I still give this pen a 5-star review because it is the best writing pen I have in My pen collection and I am happy I bought it and I would by it again.
