"The secret to a happy life is low expectations
As my (wise) friend says: "The secret to a happy life is low expectations." I had heard that this sequel was no good and saw the 2.5 stars but watched it anyway because Z1 was so epic. The combination of low expectations and many laugh out loud moments made this quite a pleasant surprise. Don't go into it looking for Sophie's Choice or even something 'as good' as the original (seriously, how often is a sequel as good as the orig?). Go into it because it's a fun comedy and a continuation of the ridiculously silly story of Derek and Hansel, and I think you will find that it is actually well worth the watch (e.g. as a guilty pleasure on a lazy day). Loved the many silly cameos and even the nod to the 'Jitterbug' scene. They did a great job with Derek's stupidity, which continues to me laugh (which ironically takes fairly intelligent script writing. Take for example when everyone supposedly figures out who is behind it all, and the camera turns to Derek to reveal it, and he says 'who?'). If you liked Z1 then watch it (especially on a day in which you've got nothing to lose). Otherwise don't. But don't be too judgmental; just enjoy.

HUGE fan of the original, thought this one was okay at best.
I will try not to delve too much into what is already covered in most of the reviews I have seen for this movie. I had very low expectations going in, but was actually pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the first 15-20 minutes of the movie. The plot was kind of over the top, but with all of the subtle details and how well the actors sold it, I ended up really thinking the beginning was funny and that the movie might be able to standup on its own as a great comedy. I even thought to myself "This is really funny. I like how there aren't too many references to the first movie, or if there are references they are very self aware and funny." This ends up changing as the movie goes on where more obligatory references come in and they seem much more forced. I did not think Derek's son was funny at all, and I thought they really squandered Mugatu's character. The Mugatu from the first Zoolander may be Will Ferrell's best role. He had so many iconic lines that are delivered perfectly and uniquely in the first movie, where in this movie he is more of a throwaway character. The movie also seemed to get overly wrapped up in this weird plot rather than just letting its characters exist and be funny in their own element. Overall I think the movie starts out strong and quickly comes back down to Earth to be more or less what everyone thought the sequel would be. For the most part, I agree with the reviews that state you should like this movie if you are just looking for a decent comedy where you don't have to think too much. If you liked the Dodgeball movie than this is slightly less enjoyable than that one.

Worth a try if you're not too critical of comedy sequels
I was pleasantly surprised with 'Zoolander 2'. After all the bad press I was curious to see what could have gone wrong. While I remember enjoying the first movie I never fell in love with it. I found the sequel to be perfectly enjoyable as well and don't really understand all the negative reviews.Comedy fans seem hard to please. I've enjoyed many of the high profile comedy sequels to come out recently, including 'Anchorman 2' and 'Dumb and Dumber To'. If you're not too critical of comedy sequels then you might like 'Zoolander 2'.

Attempts to catch lightning in a bottle after 15 years doesn't succeed.
Wow, something really went South on this sequel bomb, lots of cameos but none of the irreverent shocks and laughs of the first as Derek tries to re-connect w/ his son and Hansel deals with becoming a father to his orgy. I had just re-watched Stiller's Tropic Thunder the other night and decided to pick this up for cheap from Amazon not having seen it when it came out. Sadly, I just didn't find this funny compared to the original's wit and freshness. Ah well. (j4.)

Very funny
If you are one of those people that get offended at the drop of a hat than this movie is probably not for you. Even though not as good as part 1 in my opinion I think this movie still hold up. It has a lot of jokes that kept my family laughing all the way trough. Some online reviews say that the jokes are lazy and take cheep shots, I agree they do and that is what makes the jokes even more fun in my opinion.

Hate to admit that on a primal level we liked it
Like Austin Powers, it's way too stupid and gross in some places. For a sequel, they did a good job! If you think the plastic world of fashion is oh so shallow and disgusting, then this will ring a bell with you. We loved Captain Fantastic, so that says a bit about us (we are also international ocean cruising sailors with a broad view of the world and a love of the natural.) Hate to admit that on a primal level, we liked it. Lots of surprise cameo appearances, even Neil Degrasse Tyson.

A mixed bag, average sequel.
Not without it's laugh-out-loud moments, the sequel to Zoolander is simply not as fun. It relies on many of the jokes from the original film. The cameos are many, almost Too many (is anybody else sick of Neil Degrass Tyson, or is it just me?) Best by far are the appearances by Keifer Sutherland -as himself, and Benedict Cumberbatch -as the hysterically creepy supermodel All. There are moments of fresh humor which keep the film from sequel purgatory, but only enough for it to rate as average. It often seemed that the movie was written by too many people trying for too-wide an appeal. If you loved the first one, you probably will enjoy this one. Totally worth the rent for Cumberbatch's brief appearance. On another note, Fans of True Blood keep your eyes peeled for Alexander Skaarsgard as Adam in the Garden of Eden scene.

Terrible
Didn’t laugh once and the original had me nearly peeing my pants. Stopped watching after an hour. Was like watching a new storyline and they tried to re do all the scenes that made the original great, like a ‘remember when’ gag, rather than new material. Completely missed the mark.

Don't waste your money
As a fan of the original, I hoped this would be at least half as good - it isn't.Stiller has lost his sparkle, and the child sacrifice scene at the end isn't funny considering the reality of Hollywood paedophiles.Regret buying.
