My favorite Clip system nerf gun so far
Before i got the Retaliator I didnt expect it to be so great. But when i opened it up i was shocked. The gun looks great, it comes with some pretty neat attachments that go with many of my other guns. I love the 12 round magazine, I thought a 6 round mag was too short for a single shot rifle, and an 18 round too big. The 12 is perfect. Shooting- Wow!! The range and speed is great! Before this gun my best nerf blaster was the longshot, which had great range. The retaliator is even better! It makes a crsip POW! noise everytime i shot, which i love. The darts go very far( i didnt measure the distance) and rarely go off target.Pros- Amazing look, feels sturdy-Shoots better than all other spring rifles ( Recon, Raider, Longshot, Stampede,etc.)-Comes with new magazine.-Comes with Stock that goes with: Recon cs-6, Raider/Rampage and also comes with foregrip(which i like more than the foregrip with built in bipod) And comes with barrelCons--Stock is a bit short, i feel to close to the gun with the stock against my shoulder.-Handles slightly used older darts badly and would usually jam, or the darts would come out the barrel sideways ( My other blasters would shoot the elite darts and banged up darts just fine.) Final Word- If you are a nerf gun collector or enthusiast, this one is a must buy!! It's very intimidating and awesome looking! I'm going to get a second one!

Great fun that even older kids love....refills are cheap and easy to find. Works great even after drops, rain, and rough play!
Great addition to my son's Nerf Gun collection! Since he's 12 years old there are very few things other than riding bike and video games that entertain older kids. I have mostly given up on "toys" even when they're supposed to be for "older kids and pre-teens". But my son asks for whatever the coolest, new model of Nerf Gun is each Christmas. They are a neighborhood favorite and this one is no different. My son really likes that it's easier to use and reload fast (compared to other models he already has) and it accepts the cheaper, basic darts (so he knows I am more willing to replace countless lost darts because replacement refills are cheap and easy to find). The neighborhood kids all ask my son to bring his Nerf Guns out and this one is the most sought after. Size is good, shoots well, doesn't jam, and is durable for older kids running around outside and banging it around. It gets left in the rain and dropped on sidewalks frequently and I've had no problems. There are a lot of modifications kids can do on this gun, as well and according to my son they are "very cool and easy".The rarity of finding an actual "toy" that kids this age will play with AND that gets them outside and active makes this completely worth buying and I am SO relieved that unlike some of the other models, this one has cheap dart refills that won't make you cringe every time your kid comes home with half of the darts he left with. My son and his friends seem to love it, so that means it's a big win for us parents.*I don't usually let him use these indoors, but when testing it out, I always make sure that darts aren't too hard or able to actually knock things over in the house. There is no worry of injury or impending damage to your more delicate household items with this gun and dart-type that I've noticed, so I give it the 5th star for being just "awesome enough", but no heart attacks for parents and sitters. It doesn't hurt to get "shot" by this gun and I'm very cautious about the types I'll allow.*

Averages 71 FPS; standard issue Soldier class Nerf blaster
The Blue Retaliator was my first experience with Nerf guns in 2014, and wow was I impressed. No batteries needed, and yet it launched darts pretty far and with good accuracy for a dart gun. I saw that it gave much better distances on it's shots than it's yellow predecessor (the N-strike Recon). But then this blaster started jamming and I found that the darts start to warp over time and get stuck in the chamber a lot. Also, if you play on dirt, it could get on the darts and rub off in the blaster, possibly causing issues you don't want to occur. I also soon found the barrel extension robbed the blaster of dart range and that it was better off without it, just not better off in the looks department. Today it has a white (and shoddily-painted with a crude blue stripe and lettering) successor which is supposed to be an upgraded version with improved advertised distances, but do the white ones performed better than the blue ones that they replaced? I have a lot more knowledge on Nerf blasters now, and I have since purchased a ProChrono chronograph and have clocked the Retaliators' average dart velocities at 65 FPS (feet per second) with consistent readings from several different Retaliators, including this white one (this is the second of two; the defective one I returned to Amazon because the blaster primed once and got completely stuck halfway into the second prime). I was discouraged to read that the new white and blue "Elite" Retaliator to have worse ratings than the first blue one despite having a longer advertised shooting distance (I thought "shame on you Hasbro, making Nerf a liar"). However, my white Retaliator had an average FPS of 71, making it slightly stronger in this case (blue 65, white 71) and putting up numbers to help back the claim. As an update, Orange Mod Works (OMW), Worker, and Blasterparts have upgrade kits which pushes the limits of this blaster to 100 FPS on my Retaliator(s), and with the stock air restrictor (AR) intact! Others sources state that Retaliators and Rampages seem to perform better on the stock AR. As a warning, this blaster can be irritatingly difficult to modify if you are not good at taking things apart and putting them back together. Also, the internal components are being punished by the upgraded pressure from the 5kg/7kg springs, and aftermarket efforts to reinforce key areas and replacement parts most likely to break are included in their sets. But seriously, with the spring alone this blaster is a beast, it's just that it loses it's control after a while and misfires if primed too hard. Perhaps it is best to leave these blasters stock? Nah.

Great nerf gun
This is definitely a staple nerf gun. Out of the box; comes with the blaster, a barrel, a stock, a verical grip, 12 round magazine, and 12 darts. A full set.The blaster itself is already quite powerful on its own. Comfortable grip. The priming mechanism is simple enough and quite easy to pull. Inserting the magazine is very smooth and clicks into place really easily. Very easy to use.Accesories:the barrel is surprisingly useful. Youd expect longer barrels to inhibit performance, but we've found that it actually makes the shots more accurate and have better groupings. I can tell because i was shot both with and without the barrel and found i got hit more with the barrel attached. It's also nice that it attaches to other nerf guns. The stock, although short, helps stabilize the gun itself while shooting. While great for kids, it feels a little odd for "kidults" (dads, youre better off using this as a pistol). The vertical grip is probably my least favourite of the set. I personally found that the blaster is more comfortable to hold without it. But the little ones love it.Its a very complete set worth its price tag. Even more so that it comes with a 12 magazine where others come with a 6 or a 10 size for the same price point or more. The fact that this is a spring gun makes me feel better that i dont have to go out and buy batteries.P.s- for modders, this is an excellent choice for you. Easy modifications with parts very easily found. Surprise your little assassin with a modified version of your own and they'll never see it coming!
