A bidet is no longer a luxury, it's now a necessity!
Never had a bidet before but had a friend recommend to me. I picked this one and have no regrets. Installation was simple, although I did have to install an AC outlet within a few feet of the toilet, but that wasn't difficult. The effect of this washlet seat is remarkable. Toilet paper consumption is drastically reduced, saving money and helping to extend the life of my septic system. I'm amazed at how well it cleans, and how lousy toilet paper actually was. I do wish the tank was able to hold more water though, as the heated water only lasts about 20 seconds on full blast, so needless to say sometimes the ambient temperature water is still required before you're finished. It's not bad though and I would never stop using it now that I have it. The heated seat is great in winter too.. They're a bit more expensive than some others, but the quality of construction and the excellent hand-held remote control are worth every penny spent.

Upgrade your Throne to upgrade your Life!
After a trip to Japan, I really came to appreciate that these were common. And quite useful and nice. A warmed seat. And warmed water!!! I had a cheap version without electricity years ago, but the COLD water was a bit shocking when it hit. This fixes that. Yes, you have to find a way to plug it in. I had to run a GFCI outlet in behind the toilet to make this work. That was the hardest part. Other than that, it installs in minutes. It's configurable. The night light feature cannot be turned off (that I found). So I had to put some painters tape over the blue light. Having a LITTLE light is nice, and turned out to be a bonus feature. Self cleaning works, and their is a door to protect everything from getting "soiled". I have 2 small complaints. I am a bigger guy. And this shrinks the effective "opening", so I have to sit a particular way (which probably helps this thing aim consistently). And my previous toilet seat could be used to SIT down or put my clean feet on as I would dry my feet out of the shower. One should NOT do either this this toilet seat. (It triggers the "about to be used" features, and the toilet seat warming). Not to mention, you will break the LID if you TRIED to sit on it. Otherwise. It's truly amazing. (Cheaper options are available, but the high-end hotels in Japan all used this brand)

Automated Bidet for Great Comfort
Works marvelously and makes you feel clean! Fits on top of the bowl. Easy to mount and utilizing the manual the entire exchange was completed within 30 minutes. The plumbing "T" to add the automated flushing fit to the existing standard design. The remote is used to trigger washing and drying. After completion it automatically rinses the sprayer. It is especially nice in wintertime to sit on a heated seat and washed by warm water. Temperatures are adjustable. Since installation essentially no toilet paper is required anymore. Every 3-6 month we remove accumulated dust from the little air-filter which is done within minutes. Biggest challenge is typically the lack of a required power outlet close to the bowel. T prevent using an extension cord we had an electrician install a receptacle next to the toilet bowl.

My favorite thing in the house
When I bought my house the toilet was cracked so I opted to get a fancy bidet. I also got the matching tank and bowl. I never knew what I was missing out on. The warm wash for your bum is amazing. The dryer is amazing. Every setting comes with multiple levels so you can customize your wash. I also highly recommend getting the matching tank and bowl. TMI but I have irritable bowel and BMs can get messy - the bowl comes with these side tornado jets and I swear I havenโt seen a skid mark ever since. It makes cleaning trivial.

functionally good but disappointed re install and appearance
When I built my home, I chose a nice, one-piece Toto toilet. The unit is really well made, it's got clean lines, it's tidy looking all of which is, in my view, enhanced by its regular height and, importantly, it's nice wooden (but white) round seat. I therefore went with the NYTWirecutter suggested washlet, with the round seat. I'm just in the first week of using it and in terms of function, the Wirecutter review is right on point (which isn't always true with their reviews but is true here) and so I'm happy about that. But I had to confront four unexpected and unfortunate surprises that I don't recall reading elsewhere. First, if you have a regular, traditional height, all in one toilet, you may - as I had to do - hire a plumber to install the washlet. Regular height toilets, paired with code-compliant supply lines, do not provide adequate space to install the t-connector necessary to install the unit. I had to get my plumber over to shorten the "nipple" (in plumbing terms, the short pipe that brings the water to the tank and that carries the shutoff valve) to provide sufficient space to install a flex line that connected the water supply to the T to the tank. The upshot: in addition to paying much more for the round seat version of the washlet, I had to incur a plumbing bill to install this. Buyer beware. Second, after using a nice, solid wooden Toto seat for so long, I was shocked by the flimsy and cheap plastic of this seat. That has been an unpleasant surprise. Third, and maybe worse, because of the depth of the unit itself at the back of the seat, in order to manufacture a washlet with a round seat, the front of the seat is bizarrely narrow. My old seat was roughly 3" wide all around. This seat is just over 1" wide in the front. I'm a small woman but it's really weird. Fourth, the unit is so big that it dominates the whole toilet. I mean, it's so tall that it comes up almost halfway up the tank. The bottom line (no pun intended): at this early juncture, I'm optimistic that this was a functional win that I won't regret getting. But it's ugly - too big in some ways, weirdly small in others -- and installation was much more costly and expensive than I had any reason to anticipate (and by the time I was able to get my plumber here, the window on the return had closed so no possibility to regrouping and going with a different choice).

Easy installation, worth the money.
Packaged arrived next day as scheduled thru prime. Package included all necessary parts to install. (T valve for water, and adjustable bracket and screws to install). GFCI was already available, so no need for electrician. Removed the original seat and followed the directions. Tools needed were a tape measure and a Philips screw driver to tighten the seat to the toilet. They supplied the rubber bushings with nuts attached that easily pushed into the holes on the toilet. They give a starting dimension of where to put the adjustable mounting plate. I installed per that dimension and had to move it one notch so that the front of the seat lined up with the front of the toilet. Turned off the water to the toilet tank and drained it by holding the flush lever down before removing the fill line. Installed the tee valve and rehooked the main line and the line to the seat. Turned the water back on and plugged it in. After reading the directions and watching an online video for the remote, I turned it all on and tested all the functions. ( use a cup or can to catch the water from the wand to keep from getting water on the floor.) The seat heater works great and comforting. When it is time to wash, the water starts out warm, but cools off towards the end of the cycle. The heated dryer works good. I had zero leaks, and the seat is sturdy and does not move. The top lid cannot be sat on due to the electronics involved and may crack and due damage. I have only had it for a week and so far so good. Money well spent.

1/2 Star Tech Support/3 Stars Product
I ordered three different brand bidets so I can evaluate each one before ordering the 4th/5th one later and so I can advise family and friends about my experience. Of the three (Bio Bidet, Smart Bidet and Toto), the first two which I installed first have 5 stars in my opinion. No issues from installation to performance. Toto leaked water at the hose connection. I called tech support. It took several email exchanges before tech support relented to send me the replacement parts. No reflection on the tech person who responded to my call and email exchanges but "management" required photos of the part on three separate occasions. Each time I had to drop other things I was doing to take the three photos, download and attached them via separate emails because "management" kept asking after I submitted the first one. It was only after six or so email exchanges that they decided to send me the parts. "Management" hinted that the hose connection was improperly installed by me; when I had no problems installing the other two brands. I am a capable DIY person who does woodworking for a hobby so I don't do these things willy nilly. The Toto bidet is okay with a 3 stars. The seat installation went well, the remote control is capable but falls short of the other two brands in features and ease of use. One issue I find is the use of plastic to tighten the connections. The other two use metal. Check the photos. Furthermore, the parts came with no instruction on disconnecting and connecting the hose to the seat. They sent pictures but as you can see the end connection will be secured by a spring clip and a plastic cover that hides the tubing connection to the seat, which I had a hard time removing. The other two have a straight forward connection - a nut into a clearly protruding tube. Overall, I do not recommend this bidet. Furthermore, I just didn't understand the rational for requiring so many pictures when the customer clearly explained where the leak was. It would have been plain and simple customer relations to just send the part outright. I venture to say that most consumers who order these bidets are likely DIY folks. Plastic nuts and threads, for the kind of money spent on these things, seem to invite otherwise avoidable issues. There was a lot of frustration with all the emails, then I had to disconnect meanwhile while waiting for the part and I had difficulty removing and installing the silly hose connection. Last photo does show the metal nut for the Smart Bidet, which was the same for the Bio Bidet as well.

A Worthwhile Upgrade
Iโve been using this for about 6 months now, and itโs easily one of the best upgrades Iโve made at home. Installation was straightforward and didnโt take much time, even without prior experience. The functionality is excellentโeverything works smoothly, from the adjustable water pressure to the heated seat and drying features. Itโs comfortable, hygienic, and just makes everyday use feel a lot more refined. Build quality has held up great with daily use, and it performs just as well as it did on day one. Overall, an awesome product that delivers on both convenience and comfort. Highly recommend.

Excellent bidet, but expensive
I'm a bit choked that the "round" version of this is double the price of the elongated shape, but it is an excellent product. The heated seat is a must-have feature! I am a bit wary of the plastic cracking, but the Toto brand feels MUCH more sturdy than the Brondell we tried previously (which was broken from the start and their customer service took three weeks to even get back to us... so we returned it and never went back). I am trusting the Toto reputation and thus far it feels earned!

A very useful product
I'm dealing with an elderly dementia patient and this product make the process so much easier. It's not perfect, but it eliminates a lot of the manual effort and mess. The installation was relatively painless and it all went well the first time, but the centering instructions could be better. The quality of the product is a little cheap for the price; I can see the cheap plastic breaking over time. The outer seat does not appear to open as wide as it should, I can see a heavy person leaning back against this and breaking it. The lid seems to line up with the hinge, so I assume it's installed properly. The remote is well thought out and well made, although I'd like to see an auto routine that runs through a series of preprogrammed steps. Better still a phone app with a camera built into the washing tube, so you can see what you're doing. Ideally, a phone app with AI built in, so Skynet can do a proper job of cleaning your business. I'm only partially kidding about this, just think of the money you could make off the Geeks. Overall I'm happy with the design and build quality of the unit, and remote, other than the chinsy outer cover. In my case, it also covers a real need, and I might enjoy a heat Tushy as well.
