U.S. Art Supply 8.5" x 8.5" Watercolor Book (2 Pack, 76 Sheets Each)

This was my first watercolor practice book. I have learned so much about painting since I started using this. I’m nearly finished with it now, six months later. I used it to follow along with a YouTubers practice book series (Andrea Nelson). The paper is not 140 pound, but that’s okay. It held up well for the paintings I did. It does wrinkle, but I don’t mind that. I used clips to hold the pages down while painting anyways. The binding is durable, no pages have fallen out. I like the paper, I find it easier to work with than my no name cheap 100&% cotton rag paper, as this paper is cellulose based and can lift colors easier, making highlights smoother and blending dry colors possible. I know most people like cotton papers only, but for just beginning and learning, this book is perfect. The downside is that the paper doesn’t absorb paint as easy, so you have to make sure to control your water usage and suck up any puddles with a dried brush. It works well though for my needs. I bought a second pair to keep practicing. I do my nicer pieces in my 140 pound books, but this is my fun book that’s about no stress painting and having a good time.

I love these books! They are great and well made. Perfect for my watercolor art journling. No bleed through or peeling paper. I like the size and slight texture. I will buy again and again!

This sketchbook took 4 weeks of travel like a champ. I used it daily. The pages stayed IN the book. The paper is a buff white, but I got used to it. There’s also a texture, but again, I got used to it. Paper warps a little with watercolor, but the paper did Not shred. Ink doesn’t bleed thru. Modpodge doesn’t warp the paper! LOTS of pages! You can watercolor and marker double sided because these won’t bleed thru (at least for me)! I took into a European shop and asked if they had any sketchbooks with similar paper quality. Close but not are an expensive “global” brand that begins with “H.” The shop helper thought my book was an an “H” brand” because the paper is so good! As is the hardback cover! And it mostly lays flat when open! Two complaints, but these books still get 5 stars from me: There’s no pocket on the inside back cover. I made one. The bookmark ribbon is barely long enough to pull thru. I extended it with a string. I’ll be using these books from now on. Bought and used two sizes: 8.5x8.5 and 5x8

I like these books and have been using them for all my experimental process. They are easy to pull out and use. There isn’t any bleed through, whether you’re washing the page with water or using pen and ink. They are study little books and the binding is fine. I did have to go through and break the seam a little if I was using both pages for a piece. The pages do warp. Having said that, the page has not peeled or pilled because of the wash that is sometimes used. I think that’s just the nature of the paper though. Book size is fine. I traveled via plan with it.

I absolutely love these watercolor books. The paper quality is much better than I expected for the price, and the hardcovers make them feel sturdy and professional. The pages handle watercolor nicely without too much buckling, and I like having two books included so I can keep one at home and one for travel or classes. Great for practicing, sketching, and finished pieces alike.

These books are the best quality and best value for watercolor paper! The book quality is nice and suitable for many different projects and perfect for all types of media including of course, watercolor! I have ordered these many times and been totally happy with them every time. They are actually one of my favorite things to reorder and I am always so excited to open up the package like its a fresh new start. They are hardbound and durable and the paper quality is enough to withstand lots of mediums and its relatively thick and its fairly good at resisting warp from watercolor or any wet mediums though it will. I think they have a decent amount of pages in each book and i have rarely had bleedthough. These books are the best! I have not found a better value and quality.

I got this for a 30 day art challenge. So far the pages have held up to watercolor, acrylic, posca markers, sharpie, and a combo of all the above on one page. There is a little bit of buckling but that's expected. I did notice on some of the pages in the gutter where the binding is some of the pages are stuck together and won't lay flat. I tried to carefully pry them apart but they won't come apart without tearing. That's the only downfall so far.

I typically haven't used books that are 8.5 inches by 8 and 1/2 inches, but I'm pleased with the size. My children are too. The paper is thick and didn't work when I did with some watercolor painting on it. I didn't notice any bleed through either. I also didn't notice any imperfections on the paper. I'm pretty particular as an artist about the paper I use, but I'm happy with this so far.

Hier bekommt man 2 Sketchbooks mit jeweils 38 Aquarell-Blättern (wenn jedes Blatt von vorn und hinten bemalt wird, entspricht das wie angegeben 76 Seiten). Ich habe es mir wegen der Größe und dem quadratischen Format bestellt, da mir die gängigen Formate zu klein sind. Auf dem Foto kann man gut erkennen, wie sich das Papier bei dem großen, mit sehr viel Wasser gemalten Kreis im Farbverlauf verhalten hat. (Dazu muss ich aber auch sagen, dass ich oben am Rand nur eine große Klammer zum Fixieren genutzt habe.) Da ich das Buckeln des Papiers aber auch von anderen Herstellern kenne und selbst eher wenig Wasser nutze, finde ich das Papier durchaus ausreichend. Es ist ein Sketchbook und dort müssen (sollen) keine perfekte Bilder drin entstehen 😉 Die Körnung ist auch für detaillierte Illustrationen geeignet und dabei verzieht sich das Papier auch nicht, auch mehrfaches layern und lasieren war kein Problem (sieht man auf dem Foto bei den Pilzen). Maskierflüssigkeit hat auch super funktioniert, sowie die typischen Aquarell-Wasserflecke. Preis-Leistung für mich absolut in Ordnung 👍

Excellent paper, 9x12” is what I was looking for to use with my gel plate. Because the book opens flat, this is perfect size. The paper is lightly textured so it should easily transfer my prints from the gel plate. The books are very attractive and arrived in good condition. Very happy with purchase. I just tried pulling a print. The paper works well with acrylics, posca pens, watercolour brush pens, and stamping ink. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Recommend
