Why does product claim antistatic properties, when that is clear not the case?

It is anti static in the sense that it will conduct static electricity safely to ground when the mat itself is properly grounded.

Will this reduce the static electricity around my sewing machine?

Can I connect this appliance in 3-pin extension cord?

Yes, the black ground plug connector will fit in a standard 3-prong extension cord. Since it only uses the ground connection, you may want to check the continuity of your extension cord's ground connection (while unplugged) as well as whether the outlet is grounded (with an outlet tester or another device) to ensure that the mat will be dissipative when attached. Alternatively, you can test the mat itself when everything is connected to ensure it is in the static dissipative range.

Does this have any magnetic sections or strips? Is it completely non-magnetic?

No magnets or strips, but it seems to stay in place fairly well on a desk if the bottom is clean. It also sits firmly on my larger ESD mat, so this one can take more abuse then eventually I'll teplace it.

Works well and lays flat with spots for small screws so you can separate into multiple groups. Do keep in mind the working space is on the smaller size so large boards wont fit as well. Mat feels pretty solid overall. Works well overall and would recommend for projects and anti-static bracelet can even fit my daughter so she can learn and help.
