PS5's secret
Heat sink version works brilliantly in the PS5, intentionally WITHOUT the slot cover (read below). It fits clean under the system's outer shell, which is all that actually matters for space sake. Speeds are noticeably (but not by much) faster, than the built-in drive. What no one, save for those truly tech-savvy in these matters (i.e., have built high-performance or gaming PCs from components, or the like), seems to understand about the PS5's expansion drive slot cover, is that it is ONLY to protect the empty slot, and it is not needed (nor should it be used*) once a drive is actually installed. Why, you ask? One answer: AIR FLOW! Heat sinks work by drawing the heat of the device into itself, then allowing open air to flow through the heat sink and remove that heat (often supplemented by fans). The slot space has NO air flow available to it whatsoever. Just check around the inside of the space and you'll realize that there are no gaps or slots for air to enter or exit the space, especially when the cover is in place. Meaning? Any drive added to the slot, w/ or w/o a heat sink, will stew in its own heat while it is entombed in the slot w/ the cover on. *Moreover, the drive will run HOTTER than intended and likely begin to fail (run noticeably slower, until no longer accessing some, then any data) within months, depending on frequency of use. Also note that said slot, having no air spaces, also protects the PS5 from the heat of the drive, which has immediate access to the air duct on that side of the system (UNLESS the cover is in place). Take it for what you will, but we hardware tech-heads know that speeding up a microprocessor, RAM solid-state storage unit means causing it to run with more power and generate more heat, but for these NVMe super high-speed drives, skin-burning levels of heat are quickly and easily generated. Though they are spec'd for high heat, this much potential heat is likely failure-fatal. For a drive that can cost about half to 3/4s (or more) of the the price of the PS5, itself, it's your call...

Tight fit but it works like a charm
I ordered this SSD for my PlayStation 5. Installation was a little more difficult than I expected only because the two screws that hold the heat sink onto the memory chip stuck out just enough to make it a very tight fit. I ended up having to leave the SSD cover off but it's a small price to pay for the additional heat being dissipated by this heat sink. Once I powered the unit up and formatted the SSD which took all of about 30 seconds I had a read speed of 6519. With a combined storage space of 4,750 MB I now have plenty of room for all of my PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games. The new SSD is working flawlessly and I can't even tell the difference between it and the console SSD. Given that I was able to purchase this for less than $200 it is by far the biggest Bang for the buck. I highly recommend this product.

Fits PS5 perfect with different brand heatsink. Update: Bricked. Update: Fixed
Additional Update 8/16/2021: Adata pulled down the firmware update from their page, spent 2 days and fixed the issue adding it back to the site. I have confirmed that the newest firmware update program no longer bricks the 2TB drives. It does not update them either as it reports the drives running 3.2.F.P7 do not need updated. Tests have been ran by other users to confirm that the performance fixes from 3.2.9.1 are present in the 3.2.F.P7 firmware. So I can once again highly recommend this drive. The price has went up since when I purchased it for $309, but even at $329, this is still one of the best priced 2TB drives with this performance level available right now. Additional Update 8/7/2021: I tracked down the exact problem. The 2TB drives are shipping with firmware 3.2.F.P7 and if you attempt to update from 3.2.F.P7 to 3.2.9.V it will brick your drive. I have found a forum where a bunch of other people have also ended up with bricked drives and are being given the run around by ADATA support who is not acknowledging this problem. Only update to the latest firmware if your SSD comes with 3.2.7.3 on it. That will work fine. ADATA needs to acknowledge this issue and rapidly fix it, because right now their official firmware tool that anyone at all can download will brick their most expensive drives. Lowering to 2 star until this issue is fixed. A drive with an official software update that will kill it cannot be recommended. Review Update 8/7/2021: So I was told I should update the firmware on this drive as the latest version will provide better performance as well as thermals. Doing so completely bricked the SSD. I have two of them, and I stupidly thought this might be a fluke with one drive, so I also updated the firmware of the second drive and it bricked as well. It would proceed with the firmware update using their official tool, made it about 50% of the way through, then threw an error that said "Firmware update failed." then the drive itself changed to "Disconnect" and all the specs for it vanished. At this point the PC will no longer boot at all when the drive is plugged into it, and the PS5 will take 5 minutes to boot and will no longer detect the drive at all. So both of my drives are dead. I am going to send them back, order another, and ask adata support how I am supposed to update firmware. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ By default this will not fit into the PS5 as the included heatsink is too tall, and the product description says that the heatsink cannot be removed. That is only partially true. The top part of the heatsink can easily be unscrewed and slid off without a problem, which is the part that makes it not fit into the PS5. The bottom part is the part that cannot be removed. Once removing the top part I was easily able to install a better quality low profile heatsink to replace it and then it fit inside the PS5 perfectly. So for those wondering, this can indeed be used in the PS5, just not out of the box. It requires an additional purchase of a slim heatsink to replace the tall beast that comes on this by default. I went with the icepc graphine coated copper heatsink that is 1.5mm tall.

PS5 users. It works great. Ratchet tested.
I would be lying if I said it was easy to just slip in there but this bulky beast fit in and I finally pushed in. And one more thing. The heat sink is too big for the ps5 and if you want to find another heat sink that'll work that's on you. But what I did was just bend the metal cover over it and screwed it in. It worked. If it becomes a problem I'll update. Games tested so far. Call of Duty worked perfectly fine. Ratchet and clank was the most demanding game for the ssd so I had to try it. The game loaded like less than a second.. The warping worked just like it should. This ssd is very good and for now I can highly recommend it especially if you wanna save money. Lastly my read speed test was above 6100mb/s. Works and now I can finally have all my games on my console. 1.03tb fully available. Update: February 19, 2022 Still working perfectly fine.

Approaches spec speeds; faster than peers
Excellent choice for new builds or upgrades, but wasted if you don't have a Gen4 NVMe socket. Pros: FAST, lives up to specs, good value for money, built-in heatsink Cons: Heatsink, despite being multilayered and nicely designed, doesn't keep the drive as cool as you'd expect. I switched to motherboard-supplied heatsink and lowered temps by about 5 degrees (ASRock x570). Overall: I'm an ADATA fan, and this is certainly their best ever drive. Will definitely buy again.

Beware of mechanical issues with large heat sink.
This product is quite fast, and with fast comes a heat dissipation problem. They solved this with a rather large heat sink. It would not lay flat in my ASUS Pro WS WRX80E-SAGE SE motherboard. I am trying to solve that problem with a larger M2 screw. It also would not fit in my UGREEN M.2 NVMe SATA SSD Enclosure USB Adapter. The heat sink would need to be completely removed for it to fit. I gave the 5 stars for its raw performance, but 1 star for installation. If this fits, you will love it! I suspect the heat sink will have other mounting issues. These guys are pretty expensive, so you may want to consider asking a question if you are not sure.

Runs hot and real-world apps are not as performant as benchmarks would suggest
Returned it after a week due to heat and performance. I am not going to get into exact numbers because a lot of my review is simply based on real-time observations. Take it or leave it, this is my experience. For reference, the PC is a custom build: MSI Mag X570 Tomahawk WIFI AM4 ATX Motherboard AMD Ryzen 9 5950X GeForce RTX 3090 Founders Edition This SSD drive: XPG GAMMIX S70 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 x4 NVMe I mention the GPU because it may or may not have contributed to the heat issues due to how large this GPU card is and where the GPU sits in relation to the M.2 slot. The Gammix SSD has a huge heat sink which was almost touching the bottom of my GPU card. Issues: The SSD routinely hit 65C in normal usage, and went over 70C when running lots of file operations. I believe this may have cause thermal throttling because the transfer speeds would never reach what was published in the specs, and would often fall short of whatever I saw in my own benchmarks. If not for the question of heat, I would almost believe that this drive is "tuned" to be faster in benchmarks than in real-world applications. I returned the drive and replaced it with a 980 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD 1TB and that drive has never gone above 40C no matter how hard I push it. The benchmark numbers are a tiny bit lower but transfer speeds in real-world are way better. Now, I will point out that the heat sink on this is lower profile so it does not get near the GPU, and that may be a difference maker in terms of heat. So, for what it's worth I had trouble with this SSD in my specific PC setup. Your mileage may vary!

Works with PS5 but It’s a Bit Large
It works with PS5 fine. There’s a metal cover over the M2 slot on PS5 and the heat sink is too big to put the cover back on. Sony’s official documentation does say to put the cover back on, but I can’t find any technical reason why you need to. I’ve been playing games off the drive for about 5 hours. I popped the top off the PS5 after a long session to check for any issues and things seemed fine. The M2 drive was no hotter than the rest of the PS5. It’s a fine drive for PS5, but know that M2 slot will be exposed.

It does work in the ps5
It is true the factory ssd cover wont fit once installed but that nothing duct tape wont fix, just seal the enclosure (not blocking the 2 vent slots) around the heat sink leaving the top sticking out. This lets the heatsink do its job and not stop the ps5 using the negative pressure under the ssd to do is job. Been using it for a couple of weeks with no issues, ps5 says speed is 6300 which is fast and way cheaper than the competition even the blade by £75. Dont be over whelmed by all the youtube videos this works fine

Works flawlessly on PS5
This solid state drive is a great value compared to similar products known to work on the PS5. The heat sink was slightly fat for the drive door on the PS5 All you need to do is give it a slight bend and then it leaves a tiny gap. You can end it there or you can do what I did and just put down some electrical tape over it and call it a day. An extra couple minutes of time and 50 cents worth of electrical tape will save you a good chunk of change and you'll be quite happy with the drive.
