My ISP’s router was failing after only 6 months use. As they no longer provided a dual band router and I still use some 2.5Ghz devices, my internet searches for routers led me to the Netgear Nighthawk. The installation was very simple and the Nighthawk mobile app worked perfectly for a simple and fast install. I have a 3400 sq ft single floor home and I was able to use my Netgear Extender to sync with my Nighthawk to extend my wifi to the farthest point in my home. I love the monitoring and support features in the Nighthawk app and my overall wifi speeds have increased over 2x throughout my home. I am connected with 2 laptops, a network printer, 2 iPhones and 3 Roku devices for a 4K smart tv and 2- 720 dpi tv’s totaling 8 devices. I am currently using 2 of the 4 wired connections for a laptop and the network printer and everything else is wireless and exceeding my expectations. Outstanding product and simple installation!

From we connect it this router has given problems and when I call support they are trying to side cut deals and wanting you to give personal information and when they see you are catching on to them then they hang up

Update: It seems Netgear finally got a firmware to nix most of the problems I had early on with this router. It’s been very consistent over the last year and change, with stable performance. Finally, it came around. I’d now refer to it as a a decent purchase. See original 1 star review below. Original: This seemed to work well for about 5 weeks. Then… Oh yes, then the success fizzled out. It looks fine, all lights still indicate great connection to the provider but all my devices connected to it, wired and Wi-Fi stop receiving internet connection. Reboot, reboot, reboot, every single day, reboot. Sometimes multiple times a day. Tech support is mind boggling. They suggested I plug it into the wall instead of my surge protector. WTF? Fortunately it’s still eligible for a return through Amazon. Thank you, Amazon. Since it’s free, I’ll exchange it in hopes this one’s a lemon. But the new one will be starting with 2 strikes. Any sign of trouble and I’ll be asking for my money back.

The default setup process for this router requires you to install an app on your phone and use that to connect to the router. The app appeared to hang a number of times when I was trying to configure the router. I ended up getting it to work by moving to within a foot of the router. Using the app on my phone to interact with the setup process is far inferior to doing it via my connected computer. My phone has a 5.4" screen and a tiny virtual keyboard. My computer has a 24" monitor and a real physical keyboard. I also don't like the fact that I had to create an account on the Netgear site to use a router on my local LAN. This is far likely to benefit the Netgear company than it benefits me. Also, I was able to get the router set up and was able to access the Internet from one machine, but not the other. I was browsing through the admin page and noticed that it had assigned the same IP address to two different devices -- one wired and one wireless. This shouldn't ever happen. Once I turned the wireless machine off, the wired one started to work. I'm hoping this router has some redeeming qualities, but so far they have not revealed themselves.

My router was several years past due for a replacement. It was doing well, but couldn't keep up with my network anymore. A tech geek I know and trust recommended this one to me as one they used for their home network. It was a good recommendation. Networking is not one of my strengths, but the mobile app made setup so easy (I didn't need to contact Tech Support because the app walked through everything step-by-step and had built-in troubleshooting, which is why I rated Tech Support so highly). I've been really happy with how easy it was to install and connect, and with how well it's working. My network is faster and this router helps me get all the benefits of that plus WiFi that is more reliable and more stable.

Not only does the Nighthawk look like cutting-edge technology, it IS cutting-edge technology. Upstairs we have a modem and router providing strong Wi-Fi upstairs and fairly good Wi-Fi downstairs. My goal was to add a 2nd router to our downstairs modem (2nd internet account) to expand my number of hardwired devices without creating interference between the routers, even though the Nighthawk enables Wi-Fi to be turned off. It works GREAT. Not only do I have two laptops hardwired without much reduction in speed on either, I now have PHENOMINALLY strong Wi-Fi downstairs without interfering with our other router. NETGEAR customer service and technical support is fantastic. And I love the well-designed really helpful app. I am sure glad I decided to spend a little more for the Nighthawk because I got a LOT more. Well worth the investment. I installed this router at my home about a month ago, and the installation went smoothly enough. It did a Firmware update during that install, to Version 1.0.11.116_10.2.100 . But afterward had regular failures of my various WiFi devices (PC, Roku, NestCam) connecting to the Internet via this router, which then required turning the router off then on to fix. I ended up updating the Firmware, to Version 1.0.11.128_10.2.112, about 3 days ago, and my various WiFi devices have connected to the Internet without issues since then. I will try to update this review if problems return. I'm disappointed that Netgear put out a version of firmware that wasn't stable for me, but hoping the updated firmware stays stable. Also disappointed that the router didn't update its firmware automatically since it appeared to be set to do that. ***Update Nov. 16, 2021 I had just one more "lock-up" incident with this router, on Nov. 9, but no more lock-ups in the past week, so I'm feeling somewhat more positive about this router. (I'm keeping a backup copy of the current firmware level just in case.)

el producto es algo grande, cubre la mitad de una maleta carry on a nivel de dimensión. las antenas a estas alturas deberían ser extraíbles para facilitar el transporte, ya se me quebró una antena por el viaje, una lástima, buscaré otro producto que no tenga esa falla, el dispositivo si tiene buena funcionalidad, trasmite la señal sin problema.
