I’ve been very happy with the MaxxHaul 70231 Hitch Mount Truck Bed Extender. It has two configurations, although so far I’ve only used the shorter setup. I drive a Tacoma with a 5-foot bed, and it works perfectly for hauling my extension ladder and half bundles of EMT. The extender is solid and doesn’t feel cheaply made at all. It assembled easily and has worked exactly as expected. I also purchased the MaxxHaul 70050 Trailer Hitch Lock based on another reviewer’s recommendation. Some reviews mention that the extender can feel a little loose. That’s technically true, but this isn’t like a rigid trailer hitch. Because the extender has a couple of sections, a little play actually makes sense. If it were completely rigid it could potentially put more stress on the components. Overall the quality has been very good and it’s been a great solution for hauling longer materials with a short bed truck. If you have a Tacoma or any short-bed pickup and occasionally need to carry ladders, conduit, lumber, or similar materials, this works really well. Very happy with the purchase.

Been trying to figure out how to transport my kayak since in new to the hobby. Theres a rack made for it that goes for around $350 so I chose these as an alternative. Works perfectly fine with different options. The yak itself is 95lbs, 12ft in length.

For price, was very happy with this item. Works very well for one or two kayaks on the back of the truck. Pretty lightweight and is sturdy enough. Very easy to set up and fits well with my dodge ram 1500. Only thing is the top two corners always dig into the side of the kayaks and worry me that they will puncture the sides so I’ve had to make some at home adjustments. But aside of this it’s a good product and has been used pretty frequently.

I needed a way to transport some 12' custom colored metal roofing I had ordered, but the shipping was more than the actual product. Enter this bed extender. Worked perfectly. Fit right into my hitch receiver. Was super easy to put together and install, and came with all the hardware needed. It's well made and is solid once everything is tightened up. Have used it several times since purchase for lumber and hauling my kid's kayaks.

Works great for my 12’ kayak. It was easy to put together. Seems very sturdy. Has a slight bit of movement but that’s because of where it mounts into the receiver hitch but isn’t an issue. It also comes with a big safety flag to put on the end of your load.

Works as advertised. Seemed a bit loose, but straps made the canoe solid. Can be used to ladders as well. Good product, better than expected.

The extender itself appears well made and was easy to assemble and install. I consider it a good value for the price. However, my package did not include the red flag as displayed in the ad picture. All parts of the extender appeared unused, including the unopened package of bolts and pins. After contacting manufacturer support, I found that I had bought a "used" item, and that I had bought from a 3rd party, so a flag (new or used) could not be sent to me as pictured. Also, for the above reason, no warranty was available. The only options presented to me were to return the item to Amazon, or to purchase a flag from the manufacturer. I decided to keep the extender, and in the future to proof every aspect of a purchase to determine if an item pictured in an ad is indeed what you will be receiving.

This thing is a lifesaver especially if you have a midsize truck. I haul lumber often and hate having it stuck way out past the bed of the truck. So far it’s holding up well. Would recommend.

I couldn’t be happier with this item. It is very sturdy and easy to assemble and install. Literally took about 2.5 minutes to unpackage and assemble. I’m surprised at the ruggedness of the extender considering what I paid for it. I bought it for my Titan crew cab which only has a 5’8” box, to carry lumber and our kayaks. It’ll do that and more. In fact, I just brought home ten 6x6x14 fence posts and it worked perfectly. I’m pretty rough on gear but this will meet my needs. Can’t believe it was only $85 CDN. Nice to see companies making good products at reasonable prices. I’ll buy more of their stuff.

The item took 5 minutes to install, very easy, amazing!! However the product didn’t provide a safety hitch pin for tow bar recipient area. This caused huge problems as I had to rush to a hardware store late evening to ensure I could take my kayaks out!!

Easy install. Easy to use. I haven't tested it to any real extreme but uses it to haul four 16 ft long LVL beams (probably 250+ LBs) and it handled it all very well. Perfect for longer drywall sheets and many long items, especially if you have a short bed pickup. Great product.
