Does this pickup pickleballs?

No, it does not pickup pickleballs, not even close.

I've only had mine since June and I've already had problems with picking up some of the tennis balls. Anyone else having that problem?

I got the same problem. It worked great at first, but after a couple of months (I only used 1-2 times each week), it could not pick up about half of my balls. I didn’t find any warranty info... I will have to buy a different one (definitely not this brand anymore).

Is the clear tube the only one that has a net height line mark?

I have a blue one and it also has the net height line.

how hard is the tube, hard grade or smartwater brand water bottle grade?

It would be considered hard grade, much stronger than a water bottle (which would be way too flimsy to pick up tennis balls). Very sturdy and picks the balls up quite well. Great for practicing serves. My tennis club has many of these to us for kid clinics as well as adults. I would recommend this product.
