UPDATED REVIEW: It works… KINDA — Even on the curly frizzy bleached out hair!
My original review: Important to note that this product is different from coppola keratin complex which I have used for the past 10+ years. This Peter Coppola A-Keratin treatment does not contain formaldehyde and all the awful chemicals. I have always had great at home keratin treatments in the past using the strong noxious fumes version, so I was excited to try this all natural chemical free version and hoping it would work just as well. The steps are basically the same except you rinse the product out then blow dry and flat iron. Also no waiting 3 days with the product in your hair looking like a wet rat, which is nice. This product went on easily and while I had my doubts - Im very happy with the results so far! My hair is a single process bleach blonde for the last 5+ years and I just had extensions taken out so my hair was thin and extremely damaged. My natural hair is kinky curly like ramen soup and all frizz - totally impossible to style. Thats why I have religiously done keratin treatments every 6 months to keep it straight. I think the before and after photo speak for themselves - This product does what it promises and without the harsh and harmful fumes and chemicals. I will update if anything changes or if it doesn’t last as ling as expected. A few tips - follow the directions exactly, I used the PC clarifying shampoo before and set a timer on my watch to comb thru every 5 mins while the product was on. I left it on for 45 mins for my hair type, and when they ends would dry out i would add a but more product to the ends so I could keep combing every 5 mins. Updated 1 week after application. Well, my hopes and dreams have been shattered with this product. After 2 washes and one week post application, my hair still air-dries totally curly just like in my before picture. Unfortunately it is not as strong of a treatment as the original keratin complex (with all the formaldehyde and chemicals) I really wanted a safer more natural solution to getting my hair to air dry straight, but this product just doesnt cut it. Sad, bcs I really thought it would work, sadly it just doesnt live up to the straightening power of the real keratin.

Great product for frizzy hair, use with caution, follow instructions, avoid products with chloride afterwards
I love this product although I use it carefully and follow instructions which are available online, as it's geared to professionals only. This version/ technique has you rinse the product out at the end, vs leaving in as with old version, so it's a more pleasant process. My hair is fine, curly, with frizz and especially in the back of my head under the top layers. It's also color treated (blonde), and as getting older I'm getting frizz even on grays that come in near temple. I focus the product on my underneath trouble areas and cowlicks in the back, and am able to get at least two treatments out of the one container. Styling is so fast and easy after using this, takes me a few minutes to blow dry vs the 15 it used to take. I use this flat iron which I love and lives up to it's name https://www.amazon.com/IONIC-Onepass-Straightening-Iron-Black/dp/B0046ZHQAW/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1471893373&sr=8-2&keywords=one+pass Even though label acts like it's not toxic as older versions were, I still take precautions on having some air circulation and an open window while applying. The smell is not as noxious as the old version but there is still a similar but lighter scent when your hair is wet. I just got this product recently and it did not seem like a fake as another reviewer mentioned, since it's working six weeks post use. I also wait two days at least to shampoo again and only use products that are not just sulfate free but chloride free (not easy to find). In the drug stores and here on Amazon there is Shea Butter restorative moisturizing shampoo, Carol's daughter black vanilla, the Renpure line or Alterna Caviar moisturizing shampoo. And I do not ever use rinse out conditioners with quaternium since that seems to weaken my hair, but I do use the leave in It's the One Keratin leave in type. I think this is a good general plan if your hair is on fine side. There's nothing like liking having a ''good hair day'' to lift one's spirits, and we frizzy heads know how important that is.

Horrible!!
DO NOT BUY THIS! I have been getting keratin treatments for 8 years. I was skeptical when it said to rinse product out of hair. It did absolutely nothing for my hair but waste 2 1/2 hours and make my hair smell horrible! It's now been 2 weeks and I still can't get the grotesque smell out of my hair! It smells like iron or wet pennies..only way to describe it, especially when wet. No matter what I've put in my hair it won't go away. Hair is not soft, still have frizz and takes as long as it did to blow dry and still have to use flat iron. Total disappointment.

2nd time’s a charm
Update after 2nd time: So the first time I did this treatment I was really nervous and used a very low heat setting on the iron. Needless to say it didn’t work. I had half a tube left of the formula so I did the treatment again a month ago, 5 months after the first time. Results are much better. I coated hair more thoroughly and used a higher heat setting while ironing. I haven’t lost volume but my hair is 90% frizz free and my unruly curly hair is now beautiful gentle waves if I let it air dry. If I blow dry then it takes me half the time and my hair looks amazing. I will definitely keep using as I want a gentle formaldehyde free product. Also my hair looks much healthier and has great shine! Original review: I have done keratin treatments at salons throughout the years but I wanted to try one at home. I was very skeptical reading some of the reviews but spent hours researching keratin treatments and decided to purchase this one. The process was very simple and from shampoo to done took me an hour and a half. I have very fine hair, down to my collar bone, which I color every 3 months and highlight every 6 months. My hair is super frizzy which is curly on the bottom and totally unruly in top. I have been blow drying my hair since I am 12 and absolutely cannot leave the house without styling it. Even so, after 30 minutes outside my hair frizzes, which is very frustrating. I was very careful in the application and used the solution very sparingly, using only half of the 3 oz bottle. I left it on for 20 minutes as my hair is very fine and processed. Due to my hair type I used a very low heat setting with the iron and ironed my hair in large batches as I was concerned about breakage. I colored and highlighted my hair one week ago and was also concerned from reviews that people said turned their hair orange. I am happy to report that my hair is exactly the same color as before the treatment. I just finished the treatment so will update in a week or so but so far it is amazing!!! Even while I was blow drying my hair (before straight ironing) I noticed that my hair was much straighter and frizz free. UPDATE after 2.5 weeks - So I was really hopeful this would be amazing. Unfortunately the results are just eh. I have about a 30% reduction in frizz and 40% reduction in curl. I must blow dry my hair in order for it to look good. It does shorten the styling process, but I was hoping for much better results. I read that sometimes the 2nd treatment works better. I will do so in about three months and post results... and yes, when hair is wet is smells like a wet rag but goes away after a couple of weeks.

Fantastic Product - Very Happy!
Product came super fast! I was nervous because I have dark brown hair that I dye with a combo of 5AA and 6AA with 20 Volume Developer. Highlight a couple of times per year. Occasionally turn a little brassy. Based on another person's review, I used a very low heat setting (360) on my flat iron and I had zero color lift. Here is what I did: watched the vimeo video at this link:[...]. This is a MUST. Washed with Paul Mitchell Shampoo Three. Towel dried to about 70% dry. Sectioned it off into 4 sections. Shook the tube as best I could I put the product into the bowl. NOTE: Do not waste the product -- I did. I could have gotten away with using only 1.5 ounces and then I would have had enough to do this again later. Put the product into my hair in sections and carefully combed thru with a fine tooth comb. After my whole head was covered, I set a timer for 20 minutes. I also set another timer for 5 minutes. Every 5 minutes, combed thru all my hair from root to end. After 20 minutes, I rinsed it out in the shower for 4 minutes. Blew it dry 100%; flat ironed it at 360 in very small pieces. The result was amazing. Super straight and looks like a professional job. True test will be how it holds up in the hot and humid NJ weather.
