Made my metal door look like wood
This stuff was perfect for staining our front door and shutters to look like wood. Our door is metal. We wanted a wood door, but are too cheap to buy one. So we used a wood grain tool and this gel stain and love how it came out! It’s Really easy to work with and was the perfect color. The first pic is the first coat with the wood grain. Then the 2nd coat and then the final coat. Last pic is of our shutters and door together

Absolutely the best stain. I have yellow pine in a cottage after putting in shutters I had to frame with wood now paint or stain. I found this stain gel that is fantastic. The color match was perfect and the no drip was a life saver

Ceiling Center piece
I’m making a ceiling center piece for my kitchen re-model. It’s not finished yet, I have more Victorian Crown moulding to add on yet! The centerpiece is made from lightweight urethane and it was suggested that I use a gel stain, I chose Varathane gel stain and I’m happy with this product

Love Love Love
Love the way this turned out. Our door is metal and we wanted a wood stained look, we primed and then stained and wiped with a rag. I purchased a wood grain tool but it didn’t work as I anticipated. I’d definitely purchase again for other projects.

Bad quality
I ordered this gel stain in two different shades. Both seemed very congealed like they had been sitting around for a long time but I figured it would be fine once I stirred them, however it really did not apply well at all. Very streaky and patchy and was hard to spread. This is my first time using this brand of gel stain (I usually use general finishes) so I don’t know if it’s the brand or that the product was really old. Regardless now I have to buy new gel stain and sand down my project and try again. I would not purchase again.

5 Stars For Varathane Gel Stain
I just discovered gel stain recently, and hands down it's the easiest stain to use, and the end results are gorgeous!!! Varathane brand gets 2-thumbs up from me!!!
