MATCHA DNA Certified Organic Matcha Green Tea Powder (8 oz TIN CAN)

This matcha is perfect for making iced lattes at home. Of course, it doesn’t taste exactly like the super high-end matchas (which are way more expensive), but it does the job really well. It mixes easily, has a nice color, and tastes great with milk and a bit of sweetener. A solid choice if you want a good matcha latte without spending a fortune.

I am a lover of good Matcha the first step in identifying good matcha is look at its color. Matcha should be bright green with no yellow or brown hue to it. Secondly, it should not smell fishy or taste bitter. When I opened this one I knew immediately it was not good. It was yellow in hue and not a pretty color green at all, but I decided to try it anyway. I made an iced latte (so temperatures from hot water did not affect the outcome) and the color stayed rather yellow/green and as time went on - it further browned. It also smelled fishy right off the bat. I opened the container and sniffed it - it also smelled fishy. This smells usually comed from it being exposed to humidity, denaturing it. The yellow color comes from oxidation meaning it hasn't been sealed or stored properly to avoid expose to oxygen. The taste was unremarkable. This product has gotten great reviews and I think that is because of the price point. My regular matcha was out of stock and had been for so long that I tried this one. A large part of the problem with this product is that it has a plastic lid. This allows air in changing the entire product. We drink matcha for the antioxidants, we definitely don't want it if it's already oxidized. Good matcha will always cost you about $15-$20 per ounce or under, bbut you're getting what you pay for. It arrived quickly, was packaged well and tastes great! This tea is easy to mix and makes a delicious latte. I will be ordering it again for sure! 🙂

I bought this because my favorite coffee shop was using it for its Matcha, so I took a picture of it and found it here on Amazon. No regrets, preparing this at home saves me 5-6 bucks. Need to get the Matcha whisk to get that good taste and dissolve it well. I use Soy milk with it directly (no water) but lately have been trying small amount of hot water to dissolve then soy milk (I still prefer full soy milk no water).

This matcha is more grainy than others I have tried. Flavor isn’t too strong.

It’s a great product, very deep matcha flavour and decently priced. I recommend this product as a true matcha lover - very authentic taste. The container is easy to store and seal.

If you’re buying this for matcha lattes, avoid. Like other reviewers have mentioned, it has a dull green colour. It tastes very bitter and is very overpowering. I tried my usual 1g matcha to 10 ml ratio and boiled my water at 175 degrees (my usual routine for other matcha brands) and it turned out awful. I could see this being good for baking or cooking instead, but for matcha lattes it’s not great. EDIT: after this review, MatchaDNA has offered a full refund on my purchase which is much appreciated and gave me some tips on how to prepare the latte to reduce bitterness. While I won’t be using it for lattes due to the colour and taste still, I bumped this up two stars because of the customer service, but also the fact that I used it in baking matcha cookies lately and it came out great. Glad I didn’t throw it away and found another use for it.

I have bought this twice and first time everything was good but second time there were like metallic magnetic particules in my matcha that really looked weird.
